Tuesday Randoms

  • We took Aubrey to the Dr. yesterday for a follow up appointment to make sure that her ears were clear after her round of antibiotics for her double ear infection.
  • They weren’t clear, not at all. She now has a way stronger medicine and a referal in the works for an ENT appointment. Looks like we might be heading to Tubesville.
  • The fact that she might have to have tubes surgery scares the ever living crap out of me!
  • To top off my fun day yesterday, or dryer died. And, oh yeah, it’s the first one we ever bought so it is a lovely 1 piece stacked washer & dryer. Since the dryer is dead, we now have to buy a new washer and dryer.
  • This is kind of a good thing because doing laundry for a family of 4 with a very inefficient washer and dryer sucked. Pretty much a bad thing though because, Hello Expensive! Why couldn’t this have happened last weekend when president’s Day sales were going on?!
  • Sunday SUCKED! Both girls were clingy, and fussy, and throwing tanturms ALL day long! After an hour of this….. (Oh yes, Aubrey has perfected the art of toddler tantrum)Image

I then sent Brad this text message, LOVE his response.

Image

  • There were some sweet moments, like at open gym on Saturday, or before open gym when Ella found out we were going and she was so excited that her idea of getting dressed was putting sweaters on her an Aubrey over their PJ’s. Ha!

Image

Image

  • The not so great of Saturday? Ella peeing on the COUCH! Yes, you read that right, our couch. And then a couple hours later standing right in front of me again and peeing on our floor.
  • I talked to the pediatrician about this yesterday and she said basically to ignore her. Instead of freaking the eff out basically just be all “Oops, did you have an accident. We’ll get you cleaned up in a bit.” and make her sit in it for about 5 minutes. We’ll see how that goes.
  • There was my roller coaster of a weekend for you. If you need us tonight, we’ll be appliance shopping. Blah!

For the love of pee!!!

That got your attention, huh?

Well, now that I have that attention, I need some Mommy advice!

Image

You see that sweet face up there? That sweet, innocent, potty trained, do no wrong face?!

She pees when she is mad at her teachers! Oh yes, you heard that right.

Yesterday at school she was asked to clean up a mess that she intentionally made, she had been asked a couple of times and when the teacher told her that she would be put in time out if she didn’t clean up her mess, she stood right there and peed in her pants!

Today, same thing, different teacher, she was asked to do something, got mad at the teacher and peed in her pants!

I don’t know what to do! We talked about this last night, why it wasn’t right and how she needed to remember 4 things today.

1. Listen to your teachers. 2. Be Nice to your Friends. 3. We do not take things from our friends. 4. No Accidents!

It obviously didn’t sink in to that head of hers. I don’t know where to take this, what can be done, or what kind of punishment works in this situation. Has anyone else been through this, or anything even remotely like this?

HELP!!!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Believe me when I tell you that this is the best picture I could get of them together! For fun I will throw in this card that I made with the picture I got of just Aubrey (Ella was NOT having any part of a solo photo this morning!)Image

Well Checks

All I can say about Monday is, Poor Aubrey. Ha!

I sent Aubrey to daycare last Wed, Thurs, & Friday. There were a lot of sick babies (keep your kids home people!!!) and by Friday afternoon, Aubrey had the cough that was going around. We did NOT sleep well over the weekend due to the cough and Aubrey just seemed grumpy and not herself on top of it. No fever.

Monday morning both of the girls had their Well Baby/Child check ups. Aubrey tested negative for RSV (which is good since there are 5 cases of it at their school!), had to have her lead levels & hemoglobin checked which meant a finger prick, and 3 shots. Poor kid, she was miserable. And, thanks to this lovely cough, she now has her 2nd double ear infection in 3 months. Blah. We have to take her back in 2 weeks to make sure they are cleared. The pediatrician isn’t really worried since both infections have come alongside a cough, but we want to make sure they’re clear.

Otherwise, both girls are completely healthy and growing so well!

Aubrey weighed in at 18 lbs 10.4 oz, 32nd percentile. She was 29.5″ long, 57th percentile. And her head circumference was 18″, 76th percentile. (Ella was 17 lbs 1 oz at her 1 year check, Aubrey has a pound and a hald on her.)

Ella weighed in at 27 lbs 4 oz, 15th percentile (at her 2 year check she was only in the 8th percentile!), she was 37.5″ tall, the 54th percentile.

Grow Girls Grow!!!

And, since posts aren’t any fun without photos allow me to tell you about Sunday. We got a call from one of Ella’s best buddies (his mother, of course) seeing if we wanted to go sledding. It was a pretty nice day, so why not. Ella LOVED it! She liked it last year but this time she did NOT want to leave. And when you would set the sled down, she would immediately jump in and I thought we wouldn’t be able to catch her a couple of times. Mental Note: Take Ella sledding again soon. She even took a 3 hour nap that afternoon. Woo Hoo!

Image

Ella was ready to go sledding as soon as we got in the car. Ha!

Birthdays Galore: Pt. 3

Part Three: Details…..the final installment.

Anyone who knows Ella knows that she can be the epitome of a girly girl. She is currently (as has been for that matter) addicted to all things princess. When I asked what she wanted to do for her birthday, Sleeping Beauty! And then she threw in Rapunzel for fun. With my criteria in hand, I started searching Etsy for the perfect invitation. It took a little bit, but I finally found them!!

The Food! (I did not get any pictures of the food table!)

Ella picked all of the food for her party, EVERYTHING!

We had a Sandwich bar – Turkey, Ham, & Cheese; Peanut Butter & Jelly.

Fresh Fruit – Cuties, Strawberries, Grapes, & Blueberries (the kids LOVED the fruit)

Veggies – Green Peppers and Baby Carrots w/ Ranch Dressing for dipping

Chips – Cheetos & Frito’s

Bottled Water for the adults and V8 Juice Boxes for the littles.

Cake – Ella picked all of the flavors and I must say, she’s a girls after my own heart. Chocolate cake with strawberries in between the layers with Vanilla Buttercream icing. Yum! And of course, it was princess. =)

The Apparel:

The girls had matching t-shirts made by The Tutu Fairy (I also got Ella’s first birthday shirt here!)

Image

The Favors:

I made all of the favors myself. After seeing decorated sugar cookies all over the internet and finding out that it was about $3 PER COOKIE for your basic sugar cookie, I said screw it, I can do that. I found the most amazing (if you ask me) sugar cookie recipe and learned about royal icing. (I wish I had taken a picture of the pink cookies, the tip that I used for piping the purple ones was too fat and they ended up looking a little sloppy.) Each child got a 1 for Aubrey, a 3 for Ella, and a crown for Princesses. =)

Image

I also made each child a crown and a wand. The girls got to choose from pink crowns with purple “jewels” or vice versa and a Cream star wand with either pink or purple star center. The boys got a golden Kings crown and matching wand, let me just say, the boys crowns were a pain in the butt to sew!

(These are the boys crowns, I unfortunately did not get a good picture of the girls wands. I’ll try to take a picture of Ella’s soon and add it in here)

Was this the most exhausting thing that I have planned since my wedding? Heck Yes! Would I do it all over again to see Ella’s face light up! Hell Yeah!

Look for a post tomorrow all about the girls Well Checks!

Birthdays Galore: Pt. 2

Pt. 2: Aubrey’s Birthday/Birthday Party Day

The morning started out VERY early for me. 1 of our coworkers sent Brad a text saying he didn’t think he was coming in that day, when Brad texted back to say “Don’t tell me, I’m off for my kids party” the guy called him! Thankfully it did not wake up Aubrey, but I was done for. It was 5:30 AM and I was able to get my shower out of the way and get all of the favors bagged & tagged before anyone else was up.

We all had breakfast, got the girls bathed, and were ready to head out to the party. We got everything set up just in time and Ella’s friends started arriving! To say she was excited would be a massive understatement.

Image

Hoppy – who runs the parties – was running a little behind, Ella and Rowan almost couldn’t handle the wait. They were so cute waiting to get in.

Finally it was time to bounce, run, climb, jump, and swing their hearts out! And goodness did they ever!

I love this picture for so many weird different reasons! Aubrey’s crazy hair, the mom feet in the background. Ha!

Sorry to overload you with Aubrey riding the alligator, I love Brads face in them!

Unfortunately, right after this picture was taken, my memory card decided it was full.

With our girls included, there were 23 kids at the party to celebrate my girls! Ella and Aubrey both had a great time! Ella still talks about her party and how all of her friends came. Both of the girls were spoiled by rotten by all of their friends and have so many new toys and fun games to play with. I cannot believe that my babies are 3 & 1! It just goes too fast!

Right after the party we unfortunately had to run Brad and Mamaw down to the airport. We had just gotten Brad back after his Papaw very unexpectedly passed away, and then they had to fly out because his Mamaw passed away just 8 days later. Ella was sad that she didn’t have more time with her Mamaw and all the way home from the airport she kept saying, “I just wanted one more Mamaw day!” Sorry kid, Mamaw would have much rather been here then leaving for the reason that they had to go.

Even with the down side to things, everyone had a great time for the day! If I’m going to take on so much again though (see part 3: coming soon!) I might have to have Ella pick her theme now so that I can start working on things! Ha!

Birthdays Galore: Pt. 1

Now, you will probably notice that I have titled this as Part 1, you might also notice that you are about to get ambushed by photos! You can thank me when all the “parts” of the birthday posts are done and you can see the onslought of photos in total and thank me for not doing that to you all at once. =)

Ella’s Birthday:

Aubrey was sweet and woke me up before Ella or Mamaw were awake. This gave us some time to run by the store and pick up supplies for Ella’s special Birthday breakfast and some balloons. Ella LOVED the balloons when we got home, but staying true to Ella didn’t want much to do with the food. (Seriously, I’m not sure where she comes from. Who turns their nose at strawberry and whipped cream covered waffles?!)

After breakfast we all got dressed and ready for our girls day of shopping!

Denver was GORGEOUS on Saturday, 60 and sunny. We were all running around in just our tshirts. First stop was Toys R Us, Ella had a gift card from Christmas and she was so excited when we got there. She immediately picked up a princess night light and hair brush. Then we wandered for a while to check things out, she saw a few things that she “wanted” but when she found Rapunzel, it was all over for every other toy in the store. She wanted to carry it everywhere, I couldn’t help, Mamaw couldn’t help, we finally convinced her to put it in the cart. When we checked out, the doll was cheaper then any of us thought so she was able to head back in and pick out a couple of the CUTEST tops.

As we were leaving I asked Ella what she would like for lunch, she quickly stated “a Cheese Quesadilla and Guacamole”. Okay then. Haha, the girls both ate amazinlgy well at lunch. Then we were off again. We were in search of a cupcake shop but of course the only one I knew of was closed. Oh well. We started heading back up the mountain and made a wally stop so that we could pick up the food for the party and the girls could pick out their gifts from Mamaw.

We got most of the shopping done and then we asked Ella what she wanted for her birthday. Out of nowhere and as sure of herself as I have ever heard her, she states “I want a bike!” Ha! I have NEVER heard her talk about a bike, but when we got to them she was SO excited. She picked out the cutest pink and purple bicycle with training wheels and proceeded to practice riding it through the store. Love that kid!

On our way home we picked up Daddy from work, picked up the girls cake for their party on Sunday and grabbed Pizza for dinner. (Ella got to choose everything for her birthday, she LOVED being able to make the decisions.) After dinner, it was time for cupcakes (Walmart had a great selection) and then gifts. Ella had picked out the cutest Elmo cupcake for herself, the rest of us had amazing chocolate cupcakes.

Here was Aubrey’s first cupcake experience. This girl hasn’t really met a food she doesn’t like, cupcakes definitely were not the exception. Ha! She dug in, it was quite the different experience from Ella’s first cake. El asked for a fork!

All was fine and Dandy until we put on their birthday party hats. HA!!!!!

It took a good 5 minutes to console Aubrey, AFTER we had removed the hat! Poor girl.

After cupckakes the girls opened gifts from family, and loved every second of it.

After gifts we had a kareoke dance party, man my girls can bust a move!

And, my favorite picture of the night, Aubrey might not be looking at the camera, and Ella may have pizza/cupcake mouth but I LOVE it! Ella is genuinely smiling and it’s me with my girls!

I will try to get part 2 posted this afternoon. It will be Aubrey’s birthday day/birthday party day. And then MAYBE I can squeak out party break down, what we served, the favors, etc.
