Weekend Love

Ella always gets so excited on Friday evenings and will ask me, “Is tomorrow a girls day?!” I love that she looks forward to our time together. Then on Sundays she’ll say, “Tomorrow is our family day and Daddy is home with us, right?!” I love our weekends together. Yes, like any parent I get frustrated from time to time, as the girls can be, um, trying. Ha! We’re usually able to get those moments under control pretty quickly and continue on with our great times together.

This weekend started out nice and quiet for me. After the girls were in bed, Brad headed out with some friends to listen to a band. I had some nice quiet time then to craft! I started out with the boys crowns and moved on to the girls Tiaras. I hope they turn out as cute as they are in my head! Ha!

Saturday morning after we dropped Brad off at work, we headed towards the city to run some errands. Ella kept talking about how much fun it was to go “shopping for girls day!” A girl after my own heart!

On the way home, we decided to take the back roads. Not only did we avoid all of the weekend traffic, but it felt good for my soul. Surrounded by all the trees and just out in the quiet.

Kind of hard to see but when we pulled in to our house, the moon was still up over the mountains. (Left of Center)

While Ella was taking her nap, Aubrey thought that climbing all over her carseat was HILARIOUS!

Image

Seriously, she was cracking up!

Sunday was another fun girls day. It was one of Ella’s best friends birthday parties. After bath time, while I was trying to pick up before we left, Aubrey wanted to ride her toy. The only way she could find to get on, was backwards. Silly girl.

Ella had so much fun at Lu’s birthday party, they were pretty much running around together the whole time.

Sunday evening brought me back to crafting. This time cutting out wands rather than crowns. =)

Monday was our family day, and goodness was it a full day. We all had breakfast before cleaning the house a bit and heading to the rec center. Ella is loving the water. It takes her a minute to get comfortable, but she put on a little floaty vest and was all over that pool. It’s so great watching her gain confidence in things like this!

We were then able to enjoy a nice family lunch before heading home for nap time. Except, while the rest of my family was napping, I was making cookies. Before Ella decided she wanted crown and wand party favors, I had wanted to make cookies. I already had all of the ingredients for the cookies, so why not do both? My trial run turned out delicious! I cannot stop eating them. Haha!

I can’t wait to see what next weekend has in store for us. =)

Goals

So, I’m a little late to the “Resolutions” Game. But, I don’t really want to make any resolutions. I’m making Goals for myself.

My smaller Goal Word for the year is Purge.

I feel like we have SO much stuff in our lives that just sits around and takes up space. Clothes that I haven’t worn in YEARS! Yeah, even if they do fit again I’ll look like a bag lady because they are so old and out of style. Toys that the girls have that are never played with that other kids would be HAPPY to have. We have a closet, with a couch in front of it. We never use the couch (except to pile things on) and the closet is full of stuff that we haven’t seen in forever because of said couch! So my goal is to get more organized and Purge everything that isn’t needed or we do not use.

My big goal word for the year, Better.

I know, that sounds weird. But it is my goal to BE better.

A better mom.

A better wife.

A better daughter.

A better sister.

A better friend.

I think that by working on my smaller goal of purging that being better with everything else will start to fall in to place. I won’t feel so bogged down with the every day.

I don’t know yet how to daily hold myself accountable for these goals, but they are something I will be working on and things that are important to me.

What are your goals for 2013?

Our weekend in Instagram.

Saturday morning the girls and I woke up to a BITTER cold morning, -22 at 8 AM. No outside time for us. How did we pass the time?

We built block towers.

Checked for new tomatoes on our indoor plants (Can’t wait for fresh tomatoes!)

My little baby wearing Mama took great care of the babies.

Princess sack races anyone? Anyone?!

While the little was sleeping, Ella and I Just Danced our tooshies off. (I can honestly say I had NEVER heard the song “Call Me, Maybe” until I got just dance 4. My 2 year old however, knows EVERY word!)

Image

“My Name is Ella, and I speak for the Trees!” The Lorax is quickly becoming her favorite movie, it’s a good one.

Image

Here’s the little, looking not so little! As soon as I had my phone in my hand, she started waving at me. Such a sweetie.

Sunday wasn’t much better, but it wasn’t even sunny. Then, when we left to go pick Brad up from work we encountered this….

Image

Someone had driven off the road (not icy, must have been doing something silly) and so we had to sit for about 10 minutes while traffic kept coming the other direction.

Yesterday we ran so many errands! Out to register the van, then back in to town to set up some savings accounts for the girls. but then, the fun part, to the Rec center to get our annual pass and then a couple hours of swimming. Ella LOVED it. I’m so excited that we have our passes now and can go much more frequently. Ella had a blast at the pool and Aubrey warmed up to it (the water isn’t as warm as her bath water.) By the time we left she was splashing and having a good time. Thank goodness it’s an indoor pool, it was -28 when we got up at 7:30 yesterday morning and then -9 at 4:18PM, the warmest I heard of for the day was -6.

Image

At least today was a little better, high of 0, I’ll take it!

Image

Now my work week has begun. You’ll probably notice that there weren’t any pictures of felt crowns in progress. I started a little this morning and will continue to try and get them all cut out through out the week so I can keep my plan of getting them sewn this weekend. So much to do for this party! At least I plan on keeping the food simple. 😉

Phew

What a couple of weeks we’ve had. I am exhausted and that’s with Aubrey starting to sleep a little better!

  • On New Years Eve, the girls and I took a trip down to the city and got a lot of felt to make the girls party favors for their birthday party. I need to get started on those!
  • That night we made some delicious Hot Chocolate Cupcakes. Amazeballs! It’s a Bet.ty Croc.ker mix that includes a mix for Marshmallow frosting, SO good! Brad and I may or may not have eaten 2, a piece, that night!Image
  • I had to take Aubrey for her flu booster on Monday. I hate shots!
  • At Aubrey’s appointment Ella asked to be weighed. We took her in for a weight check at Aubrey’s 9 month appt (beginning of November) and Ella weighed 25 lbs 5 oz. This was 1 lb 5 oz in 9 months. On Monday she weighed 27 lbs 1 oz. that’s over 1 1/2 lbs in 2 months! Growth Spurt!
  • After that appointment we dropped Aubrey off with Daddy and I was able to have a Mommy Daughter lunch date with Ella. She has been really needing that one on one time so it was good to spend some time with her.
  • Ella is officially potty trained! She randomly overcame her fear of pooping in the potty and has had no accidents in over 2 weeks! She even naps without a pullup and wakes up dry every morning!
  • Brad has been sick the past few days with the crud that is taking everyone down! Knock on wood, myself and neither of the girls seem to have any symptoms.
  • I forsee a lot of felt cutting in my future! My hope is to get all of the crowns and wands cut this weekend so I can get them all sewn next weekend.
  • If ever I can’t find Aubrey (girlfriend is FAST!) I just need to look at the windows. She loves looking outside. (Please excuse where the dogs tore the plastic off of the windows! And the dirt from where they like to lay against the wall.)

  • Thank goodness it is Friday, I am in need of some time away from work. It’s time to be in full on party planning mode for a few days!

2012 in review

ImageImage

January started out rough for us, we spent New Year’s day (and the day before, and a couple days after) with Ella being sick.

ImageImageImageImage

How do we even start on February?!

Ella turned 2! And the very next day we turned her world upside down, we welcomed Aubrey in to our lives and Ella became a Big Sister.

Image

In March, we took a trip to the Firehouse, Aubrey was diagnosed with Acid Reflux, and we rounded out my last week of Maternity leave with a trip to Disney on Ice.

Aubrey turned 1 month old, we took a trip to the Zoo, and Ella went skiing for the first time!

ImageImage

April we celebrated Easter, and Daddy spent the whole day putting together the girls playground! We also went to the annual Children’s Fair, and Aubrey took part in the “Great Cloth Diaper Change“.

Image

May, we celebrated Mother’s day as day 1 of our drive to Indiana. Day 2 had us visiting the St. Louis Arch, it was an amusing time.

ImageImageImage

June started with us still in Indiana. The girls met their newest cousin, went swimming, hung out with family. Aubrey turned 4 months old, started rolling from back to belly, the girls just had a great time.

We celebrated Father’s Day, I addressed Aubrey’s (ongoing) sleep issues, and found some humor in Ella’s quest for a baby brother.

ImageImage

Of course we had a blast on the 4th of July,  we spent some time at the lake and tried out some solid food. Aubrey started sitting up on her own, and all around we had a great time.

ImageImageImage

Another great month!

August brought along half birthdays for both girls,  we went to the fair, we got to go to a “Touch-A-Truck” event and went to the girls 2nd Rockies game of the season! Later that month we attempted sleep training, I had a dreaded Dr.’s Appointment, and we got to build a Fairy House!

Image

September was a fun month, but quiet. We just kind of did our own thing. I opened an Etsy shop to get rid of some unused craft supplies, and questioned the expense of a cup of coffee.

ImageImage

October brought us home to Indiana for our anniversary. We actually spent most of the day apart as Brad was in Indy for a wedding the night before, and the girls and I were at the Pumpkin Patch. I entered my Thirties, took some fun family photos, and Aubrey started daycare!

ImageImage

November started with a bang and Ella was sick! We had some fun times with Ella/Daddy Gymnastics, and some GORGEOUS views. We celebrated Thanksgiving and got all decorated for Christmas!

Image

December started with my switch to wordpress. Ella went skiing for the first time this season, and we went to see Santa, twice. We took a look at some of my favorite ornaments, and we celebrated a AMAZING Christmas.

2012 was so good to our family! I can only imagine what this new year holds for us!
