Busy Day

Full of party planning!

I’m so excited, today I’ve gotten the location booked and invitations ordered. I’ve been looking up ideas for party favors that I can make for the kids, to save money! I think since it’s a princess theme (sorry boys!) the girls will be getting felt tiaras and princess wands and the boys will be getting felt crowns. Shoot dang, I’m excited! I cannot believe that Ella is already going to be 3 and Aubrey will be 1. It’s just crazy to me! Ella has been asking for MONTHS (pretty much since her 2nd birthday) if she can have her party at “Hoppy’s” (the gymnastics place). Her enthusiasm is contagious, and now everything is starting to come together.

Aubrey is getting pretty good at feeding herself with utensils. Not to say she isn’t still messy, but she LOVES practicing.

At Christmas dinner, one of our friends french braided Ella’s hair and she then slept with it in. Yesterday her hair was all wavy after taking it out. Then she got in to some of her headbands, (one on her head, one wrapped around her wrist like a bracelet) and we thought she looked like an 80’s Madonna. Ha! She would not cooperate with the picture taking, so you can’t really tell, but Brad and I thought it was pretty cute.

My heart is full…..Merry Christmas!

Let me just start by saying, I really did try to cut down on the pictures. Ha!

On Christmas eve we had some of our good friends over for dinner and a little gift exchange. Alicia brought some cookies that she had baked earlier in the day for the kids to decorate for Santa. The kids all loved it, and Aubrey was constantly up there trying to swipe cookies. My little piggy.

After dinner and gifts, I got the girls ready for bed. This picture kills me! I love those sweet faces!!

Image

I think before the girls went to bed I had MAYBE 3 gifts wapped. I thought it would take a lot longer then it did, but by 11 PM I had wrapped, set up, showered, and was ready for bed with our tree looking like this. I don’t think Brad had ever expected to see that much pink in his life.

Image

Christmas morning, Ella was so excited to see the note from Santa that he had enjoyed her cookies!

Image

Then, girlfriend didn’t waste any time opening gifts. I found myself yelling out, “Ella, that one is from insert name here” after she’d have the gift opened because she was too fast for me to be able to read gift tags.

Here’s Aubrey checking out some of her gifts from Santa.

I LOVE this picture. No hands, wrapping paper being flung through the air. This just about sums up our morning. Haha

Image

My sister sent the girls this castle, this picture was taken as Ella was saying, “Set it up please, Mom”

Image

And then neither girl left the castle pretty much all day. Haha

Image

The Snow White dress that Ella is wearing, we told her that was from Aubrey. About an hour and a half after all of the presents had been opened and the girls had been playing; Ella walked over to Aubrey and said, “Aubrey, thank you for my dress. I love you.” I thought I was about to cry. She loves her little sister so much! Just had to share. =)

LOVE Aubrey in this picture.

And I loved watching the girls play together ALL day. It made my heart happy.

Image

We tried to stick as much to our routine as possible. So the girls went down for naps and then we headed over to our friends for dinner.

(Reminder: I MUST remember to make Brad take his hat off for pictures so there will not be a shadow on his face in every picture with the girls!)

We had an amazing Christmas. We are so blessed to have such amazing family and friends. Thank you so much for everyone’s gifts for the girls and thank you to our amazing friends who enjoy sharing their holidays with us.

I hope that everyone had as blessed a Christmas as we did!

Santa, Take 2

Ella and Aubrey had their daycare Christmas party this past Wednesday. Ella was so excited; we had her teacher gifts wrapped, the girls gift exchange gifts wrapped and ready to go. Then, Daddy uttered the dreaded word….. Santa! She didn’t want him to be there! There nerve of that man showing up at a Christmas party!

We got to the party and all was going well, until Santa and his helpers entered the room. They started in the infant room and Aubrey was the first to go, I love this next sequence of photos. (I apologize if that makes me sound like an evil parent.)

Ha! And the whole time Santa was in the infant room, the toddlers were staring through the glass in amazement, taking it all in. Once a couple more of Aubrey’s friends had seen the big man in red, we packed up and headed over to the toddelr room. Ella would not let Daddy put her down. All of the toddlers that had been in school that day were by now seated on their circles ready to sing Christmas songs for Santa as soon as he entered the room. Hahahahaha! As soon as the poor guy came in, kids were screaming and running in every direction to get away from him. It was hysterical! Mass chaos! One super brave boy marched right up and sat on Santa’s lap while all the other kids watched nervously. Ella was second to go anywhere near him, and I must say, VAST improvement over round one. She would NOT sit on his lap, but she high fived him, asked him to say Ho Ho Ho, and told him she wanted a “Fro-go” (Po-Go) stick for Christmas. I almost added that if he wanted to misinterpret and bring Mommy some frozen yogurt instead, go ahead. But alas, I contained myself. After she had taken her turn, it was quite entertaining to watch the other kids. Some of the screams that came from those kids, WOAH!

Image

All in all, Ella and Aubrey both had a great time at their party, and I at least got a better picture of Aubrey sitting on Santa’s lap.

I would also like to thank my husband for the SUPER unflattering picture of me holding Ella with Santa. Thanks, Babe.

Sentimental Ornaments

As I stated in an earlier post, I’m not one to spend any time or money making my tree look like something from a magazine. I am a sentimental decorator. All of the ornaments on my tree I have either had since I was a little girl, purchased with Brad, or have purchased for my girls. Here are some of my favorites.

This ornament was given to us by my Mom in 2006, the year we got married.

ImageOf course, I have to represent.

ImageThese next 2 ornaments, I adore. They were sent to Ella for her first and second Christmas, one of my very best friends, Jessica, sent them to her. She thinks they are so special. Jessica has sent them in cute little boxes that we then use to store them away. This year when we were taking them out of their boxes and preparing them to go on the tree. She thought the were the coolest things.

ImageEspecially the sleigh bell, since she happens to be obsessed with the Polar Express.

Image

ImageWhich was fun because my Mom sent her a carriage.

ImageThis year at our local craft fair there was a booth selling vintage ornaments, Ella fell in love with this Santa so we had to get it.

ImageBoth of the girls have their “First Christmas” ornaments. They have all of their birth information on them and I just LOVE them!

ImageFirst Christmas Ornaments can be found HERE

ImageLast spring, 2011, we went to the Indianapolis Zoo while we were back home visiting. When we left My Mom bought Ella a stuffed Pink giraffe; so when Ella received this ornament from my mom last year she put two and two together immediately and said it was just like her Zoo giraffe! Love that kid!

Image

My final 2 favorite ornaments are not hanging on the tree this year. I was too afraid that they would be broken. (Although, the girls have been excellent and not really bothered the tree at all!)

This isn’t the actual picture of the ornament. My grandparents used to own a ceramics shop, when my brother and I were born (we’re twins) my Grandma made us each a ornament of a mouse in a stocking. Mine was painted pink and his was blue, with a little gray mouse in each. This is an ornament I will always treasure and I am lucky to still have it. Why?

Image

When I was a Junior in high school our house caught on fire. Most of my ornaments from when I were a child were ruined. The 2 that were salvaged were my mouse from my Grandma, and this Rainbow Bright ornament from when I was 3.

I hope you enjoyed a peek in to my favorite Christmas ornaments. What are some of yours?

Ho, Ho, …… No?

On Saturday, I took the girls to go see Santa.

The terror, all started last year; Ella literally jumped out of my arms over to Brad to get about 6 inches further away from Santa. So when Brad told Ella on Friday evening that Mommy was taking the girls to see Santa the next day, she flipped! And not happily.

“No, I don’t want to see him! I’ll stay home!” Ha! Really, what child doesn’t want to tell the fat guy in Red every single toy that they have ever wanted to get their hands on?! Mine, it seems.

The next day, we dressed cute and got ready to go see Santa. We even had friends come over to go with us so that Ella could see that it was “safe”. When it was time to go though, “I don’t want to go. I want to stay here. I don’t like Santa!” OMG kid, put your happy pants on and lets go!

Well, that backfired. Ella wanted NOTHING to do with Santa. Not. A. Thing.   She stayed on the other side of the room from him at all times, even when her little friends sat happily up in the mans lap, she would not go near him.

Aubrey, LOVED him while she could look at hime from across the room. She waved, smiled, totally hammed it up. When I sat her in his lap, totally different story. She stared at him for a few seconds (which, by the way was totally adorable!) but we weren’t quick enough to capture that moment on film. So, for bringing two cute little girls to see Santa and get amazeballs pictures, this is what I ended up with.

Ha! Sorry Santa! My girls are a little weird. =) I still love you!

What’s going on?

Wow! The Switch is official, my first post on WordPress. =) Let’s see if I can get used to all of the differences.

So, what’s been going on with us, you ask? Oh, you know…

Ella pretended to be a Unicorn after a birthday party we went to on Sunday. I can still hear her saying, “Look Mom, I’m a Unicorn!”

Image

The next morning we were all up bright and early and someone was super excited to go skiing with her Daddy!

Image

Ella had a blast skiing, and after only a couple of runs on the small hills……

ImageImageImage

She was ready to ride up the big lifts with Daddy. She said she had so much fun and she is already talking about going this weekend! So sweet!

Image

Aubrey has taken a huge interest in our Christmas tree, she loves the lights and we’re lucky that she doesn’t go for the ornaments, oh no, the tree skirt is much more appealing! She tries to take off with it whenever she gets a chance.

Image

Aubrey is my big eater, she will eat anything you put in front of her. Sometimes, she gets a little messy. Mashed Potato deep conditioner, anyone?

Image

I got a box in the mail the other day, it was the new comforter that I’d ordered super cheap on Black Friday, the girls were so excited over something new in the house! Ha!

Image

After they had wrestled with the comforter for a bit, Ella remembered how much she LOVES the big boxes that things come in. “Mom, open your delivery!”

Image

I posted this to Instagram last night, poor second child. This is pretty much her baby book right now. Haha! Thank you iphone!

Image

We’re finally starting to get some snow here and it is so greatly needed! It’s beginning to feel a little more like winter and the holiday season seeing this white stuff actually start to come down.

Tomorrow the girls and I are going to make some Salt Dough ornaments and then go see Santa with some friends. Hopefully this year will go better then last year and we won’t end up with Ella telling us how she doesn’t like Santa for weeks to come. Ha! Fingers crossed!

Blog Humbug!

See what I did there?! Ha!
Anyway, I started a post today and as soon as I went to upload a picture, I got the message. What message, you ask? THE Message.
I have reached my limit of photos that I can upload to this blog, unless I pay blogger every month. Blog Humbug! I don’t want to pay for something that is supposed to be a free outlet.
So, now I need to make some decisions. Pay for more storage, or switch my blog to somewhere else?
I will let you know as soon as a decision is reached.
