Random thoughts from yesterday

  • Yesterday we set out on a mission to get a dresser for the girls room and a big girl bed for Ella. We accomplished 50% of this and came home with a dresser. (See next bullet point on the bed situation)
  • We went to Ikea to find these things. I LOVED almost everything that I saw in that store but I HATED their pricing structure. They couldn’t just put up “this costs this much for the whole set” No! So even when we started out thinking we were going the cheap option it would have been WAY too much for us to be comfortable with. And that was settling. For the bed that I LOVED (with drawers underneath for storage) It was $399 for just the frame, then you had to buy the slats, and then the mattress, and then the pillowtop so that it would fit right. Not what we were anticipating, so, we keep shopping!
  • On our way to Ikea we witnessed a car accident. We were getting off of highway 6 and getting on the exit ramp for I-25, this idiot driver comes FLYING around us an is exiting north bound, he decides that the person in front of him wasn’t going fast enough (they were both going WAY too fast for an exit ramp) and decides to gun it right at an icy puddle. We watched his rear end spin around in to the right lane, he completely lost control and we thought he was going to take the guy in front of him out too, luckily for that innocent bystander he missed him but he then went back across the left lane and HEAD on in to the concrete barrier. Thank the good lord we were going South bound or else we could have been involved also. After we composed ourselves Brad call 911 and was able to get some help on its way.
  • We ran a few other errands in the same general vicinity as the Ikea store and when we were leaving I swear I heard angels singing, only to look over and see a STEAK N’ SHAKE! (It’s on South Quebec in Centennial) OMG, Colorado friends, if you’ve never been to one in the midwest, do yourself a favor and go! We will be going back down there soon! Too bad it wasn’t dinner time yet! It’s the only one in the state! And I’m just going to say, Frisco Melt and Cheese Fries. That is all.
  • On our way back home we stopped at a little BBQ place in Idaho Springs, Fried Okra! Yum!
  • This post seems to have turned very food related, so I’m going to stop before I get really hungry and eat dumb things.
  • Ha! How’s that for random?!

Hump Day Bump Day: 34 Weeks!

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers – which she’ll need to regulate her body temperature once she’s born – are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
Phew! What an amazing week! Please see below for my Christmas post!
How Far Along: 34 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: We’ll stick with the 24 lbs from my last appointment, I don’t even want to know what Christmas did to that number!
Sleep: Blah! Getting to the point where rolling over is a chore!
Stretch Marks: Still holding out with the old ones, no new ones (in places I can see at least)
Best Moment This Week: Christmas with my girl!
Movement: Pretty much ALL the time, I feel like she’s running out of room.
Food Cravings: Iced Chai and fountain Cherry Coke
Gender: Baby Girl!
Labor Signs: BH’s are getting more regular, and after some interesting flips, twirls, & spins I feel like I have a head in my crotch. (Lovely, I know!) =)
Belly Button: Outtie
What I Miss: Nothing! I love being pregnant with this little one!
What I’m Looking Forward To: Completing our family (For now!)
Weekly Wisdom: Ha! Wisdom is not spelled Wisdome, oh yeah, I just typed it out that way.
34 Week Belly Photos: (yeah, sorry, we’re back to this crap!) =)

Fa La La La La, Woof!

Ha, sorry, Ella LOVES all of the Biscuit books and in the Christmas one they sing along with the carolers and it goes “Fa la la la la. Woof!” so Ella will walk around the house singing this, it’s too cute.

Since Brad had to work on Sunday, Ella and I were able to get some Christmas Eve things done that day. We made cookies for Santa. . . .
Yum! No Bake Cookies!
We wrapped presents for Daddy!
Ella LOVED taking them over to put under the tree for Daddy!

And then we just hung out and treated it like any other day. I was able to get ALL of Ella’s gifts wrapped during her wonderful 3 hour nap!
We had a pretty non-traditional Christmas Eve dinner of Bacon Cheeseburgers and Fries once Daddy got home. Then we gave Ella a bath and it was time for bed. Ella got to open her final advent book and some Christmas Jammies that night and was so excited, her jammies included some Princess slippers which she was amazed by and kept telling us “They Sparkle!”
When I went to tuck her in I told her I was going to put her cookies by the tree for Santa and she says “No! I don’t like him!” Ha, her trip to see the mall Santa this year seems to have scarred her!
After she was in bed it was time for Mommy and Daddy to get down to business. I took on “Operation Cozy Coupe” and Brad took on “Operation Kitchen” 1 & 3 1/2 hours later (respectively) we were both ready for a stiff drink (sigh) and ready to set up for Santa!
How things looked when Ella went to bed:
And. . . .after:

And before you go thinking “Woah, you went overboard parents!” Yes it was still a TON of presents but not all from us (or Santa!) anything that grandparents, aunts, uncles, whoever sent to our house I wrapped in the same paper and we put out for the more dramatic affect after she was in bed. Then when she’d open something we’d say “Oh, Santa Brought that one from insert name here“. Anyway, I will now stop talking so much and just insert pictures of my kid opening her gifts on Christmas morning.

“Santa brought me a car!!!”

And this is the lovely point in the morning where my camera battery died so we had to move to the point & shoot. Blah!

“Mommy! Take a picture with Ella!” And this is what we got, haha!

After the gift opening was done we had Alicia come over with the boys for breakfast, Ella sure does love Baby Kai!

Ha! It was an amazing morning, we spent all day playing in the kitchen (Ella’s kitchen of course) and we cleared out the Christmas tree to make room, she now has her own little area in the Sun Room (since she needed more area, ha!) that has her kitchen, and her table and chairs. She’s set!
While she was down for her nap I was able to run some errands and get everything ready to put in the oven for dinner. We had Darren & Alicia and the boys come back over for dinner with us and just have a nice evening together.
We had an amazing Christmas, I cannot wait for next year when Ella “Gets it” even more than this year and she has her baby sister here to share it with! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas spent with family and friends! I know we did!

And the angel said unto them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” Luke 2:10-14

Things I Don’t Want To Forget – Christmas Time Edition

Really, this is just one thing that I found hilarious and had to post so I wouldn’t forget.
Wednesdays are Brad and Ella’s day home together. I got home from work on Wednesday and Ella was up in her high chair eating a snack. I walked over, gave her a kiss on the head and she looks up at me, smiles, and says “Mommy! Dlkugflug asdluisdgf asdl;ufhfg asdui;sdgf gufg;obcv o;udfg df;oug gruio;eiudfbglibgf CHRISTMAS!” I had NO CLUE what she was trying to tell me. All I got out of it was Mommy, and Christmas and the rest she was talking so fast and so all over the place that I got none of it. Brad and I just looked at each other and laughed. When she was done with her snack and getting down she grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the tree. She and Brad had wrapped all of my gifts that day and that’s what she was so excited to tell me, I had Christmas presents under the tree and she was SO proud of herself for helping Daddy wrap them! Too cute!
And what post is complete without some pictures? One of her teachers comes over and watches her on Saturdays while Brad and I work, well yesterday I went to pick Ella up from school and she had a gift in her cubby from this teacher. I let Ella open it after dinner since she was so excited that “My Shannon” had gotten her a present. She got a Mrs. Potato Head with all kinds of accessories, her favorite accessories? Well, see for yourself.

Hump Day Bump Day: 33 Weeks

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. She’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
We had an excellent appointment on Monday, my suspicions from the past few weeks were confirmed, this little girl is transverse. Head to the left, butt to the right, little feet tapdancing on my bladder and cervix. Woo Hoo! I’ve been wondering this for about 5 weeks now, sometimes she’ll flip and her head’s on the right, but that’s about it. Ella LOVED this appointment. Now that she really seems to understand that the Dr. is not hurting Mommy, she loves to watch him measure my belly and claps when we can hear the heartbeat. She is just too cute. I feel like this little one is running out of room already with how she’s positioned, but luckily with her this way I’m not getting any rib kicks. Phew, I’ve gotten one during a flip and I couldn’t see straight it hurt so badly.
These past few days have been so much fun with Ella. She is loving the idea of Christmas and wants to listen to Christmas music and dance all the time! She has been a handful recently though, so in my not finest moment on Sunday, I told her that Santa was watching to see if she was being a good girl or a bad girl, and if she was bad not only would he not bring her any presents but he would take the ones that are already under the tree to give to nice little boys and girls. Ha! Now if you just say “Ella, remember, Santa’s watching.” She will say “I we-member, Mommy!” and will calm down pretty quickly. And also, just on Monday she was able to put ALL of her ABC’s together and now will go from A-Z every time! So awesome!
How Far Along: 33 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: Up 24 lbs! Yes! I was up 31 lbs at this point with Ella, plus I started at 3 lbs less this go around, so I’m officially 10 lbs lighter at this point than I was with Ella! Woo hoo!
Sleep: Not so bad recently. Today I even went back to sleep after waking up at 2:30 and then instead of seeing 3:30 and then 4:30 on the clock, I was actually woken up by my alarm! Amazing!
Stretch Marks: Still nothing new that I can see! Thank Goodness!
Best Moment This Week: Ella saying her ABC’s! And being SO excited about her baby sister ALL the time!
Movement: I get worried if I don’t feel anything for more then 15 minutes at a time. Ha!
Food Cravings: Iced Chai! Yum!
Gender: Baby Girl!
Labor Signs: Still getting BH’s if I try to do too much.
Belly Button: It’s out.
What I Miss: Not a thing!
What I’m looking Forward To: Being a family of 4! (I don’t think this answer will change over the next few weeks) and Christmas with Ella since she’s old enough to enjoy it. She is SO excited!
Weekly Wisdom: Get Brad to take pictures for me, this window reflections are crap! Ha!
33 Week Belly!

The Stockings Were Hung. . . .

Over the Window with Care.
Ha, we don’t have a tradtional fireplace with a mantal, so our stockings are hung above our living room window. We finally got the custom ones that I ordered for our family and I LOVE them!

 Aubrey’s for next year!

Ella gets so excited every time she sees her stocking. She’ll tell you “that’s my stocking! Wanna hold it!” So we have to remind her that it has to stay hung until Santa fills it on Christmas Eve. Otherwise, she’d be carrying that thing around all day and sleeping with it, she LOVES it.
This week we opened a box from Mamaw and Mommy wasn’t fast enough hiding one of the things to go in Ella’s stocking. What was it? Maybe this photo will help

Big girl Undies! And it was love at first site. All she wanted to do that night was pull them up and down, try to put on all 3 pairs at once, and go to the potty by herself. It was a battle convincing her that she had to sleep in a diaper still.
Last night as daddy was getting Ella’s bath water ready, she wanted in my lap, I was about to fall asleep so she joined me, Brad caught it on film, this is her favorite way to spend time with her baby sister.

And, on Thursday night, Ella’s school had their Christmas Party. She freaked a little when Santa first came in the room, but they all did. But, once one little girl had gone up and Ella saw that she got a gift, she was next in line. She wouldn’t sit on his lap but she went up with me. (Forgive my husband for not understanding how to take pictures of events such as this.)

And here she is going to tell him Thank You when he was leaving.

One of her teachers was sitting ground level in front of us taking pictures, so hopefully we’ll get an e-mail soon full of those gems. He said he got some great faces from Ella. Haha
And lastly, last night when we were leaving school, I checked out the Toddler room craft board and had to take a picture of Ella’s hand print Reindeer, too cute! those tiny hands! (Sorry for the crappy phone photo, the lighting in the hallway sucks!)

Hump Day Bump Day: 32 Weeks!

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You’re gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she’ll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb.
This week has gone by crazy fast! Ella and I had a couple of Mommy Daughter days while Daddy was away skiing and we baked TONS (oh yeah, 15 dozen total) of cookies for a cookie exchange that Ella and I went to last night. We danced and watched movies and just had fun. It was a good few days. Here are our cookies that we made:
Clockwise from top left:
3 Dozen Raspeberry Thumbprint
3 Dozen Strawberry Thumbprint
6 Dozen Heath Bars
And 3 Dozen Frosted Sugar Cookies.
YUM! Ella and I had a blast cooking together. And while the cookies were baking, we would dance, and when the timer on the oven would go off she’d get this look of pure glee on her face and scream, “Momm, we go kitchen! Now! for cookies!” So much fun!
She is getting so in to our book a day advent, every time she opens her book she gets so excited “Read this, Mommy!” and when there is talk of Santa in the books she ALWAYS says “Thank you Santa, coming to my house!” So cute! Her favorite book that we’ve opened so far, “Merry Christmas, Little Critter” and “Snowmen at Christmas”, my favorite, “God Gave Us Christmas” SUCH a good book!
How Far Along: 32 Weeks (it seems like I was JUST posting about 22 weeks and now we’re at 32 already!)
Total Weight Gain: I’ll stick with 23 lbs until I har otherwise. Next appointment is Monday!
Sleep: Amazing until 3 AM, then I’m wide awake.
Stretch Marks: Still no new ones! Yay!
Best Moment this Week: There were a lot of good ones, I’m not going to choose.
Movement: All.The.Time! This kid is a crazy mover!
Food Cravings: Fish Fillets. Haha
Gender: Another Precious Girl!
Labor Signs: BH’s when I over do it.
Belly Button: Out
What I Miss: Nothing!
What I’m Looking Forward To: Being a family of 4! (I don’t think this answer will change over the next few weeks) and Christmas with Ella since she’s old enough to enjoy it.
Weekly Wisdom: I love Iced Chai, no matter how cold it is outside. Ha  =)
32 Week Belly Pics: Since it’s still nice and dark outside when I get to work, I decided to just take one first thing this morning, in the reflection of my office window. haha

Ha! Enjoy! Now back to work for me. =)

Our Weekend

This really isn’t ALL that late seeing as how my weekend is Sun-Tuesday. Haha.
Ella and I had a quiet day by ourselves on Sunday just hanging out and playing before we had the neighbors over for dinner. Monday though was a BUSY day! We had my Dr.’s appointment and of course Ella had wanted to go see Santa (you all know how that turned out) and then we ran some errands. But, before we left for the appointment Brad tried to convince Ella we needed to trim her bangs, she wasn’t having it. She ASKED to see her bangs so we took this lovely Photo:

To which she promptly responded “Nope.” I wasn’t about to wield a pair of scissors by the eyes of my head shaking toddler, Ella 1 – Mommy & Daddy 0.
But then she wanted to take her bath and get dressed for Santa. She chose her Christmas Card Dress.

First up was our Dr.’s appt and Ella clapped and said “Yay!” when we listened to the heartbeat, too cute! Brad went kind of crazy picking out things for Ella for Christmas but one thing she ended up with at the end of a (VERY!) long shopping day was this back pack, which was not able to be hidden because kid is addicted!

I love her bib “cape” in this picture! Anyway, like I said, she loves it, it goes everywhere with us (Sorry Papaw, this one won’t be wrapped, but she loves the gift anyway!)
Tuesday we had to take Cassidy to the vet and all I can say is Hallelujah! Her “Tumor” from a couple of months ago” SO not a tumor! It is swelling due to infection from our other dog licking her all the time! So, Cass is on antibiotics and Cody is going to get smacked if he touches her. Ha! They also put her on a Thyroid medicine and after only 1 dose, she was a new dog! I cannot wait to see how this affects her!
Tuesday evening was Lazy! Ella and Daddy did a puzzle while I made dinner:

Then, while we were getting the Ella’s plate ready we look over to find her like this. . . . .

Watching this. . . . . . .

Oh yeah! I knew she loved football, but who knew she’d be so intrigued by college basketball? Nice! But then, as soon as I took her picture she went in to photo mode and wanted another one!

We decided to go nuts and have ice cream for dessert (oh yeah, we’re crazy like that!) and we let Ella have her own bowl. She was so proud of herself but wanted to sit with Daddy to eat it. I love that!
A very good weekend indeed!
And now, just for fun, I have to share that my pregnant self is a total addict when it comes to these!
YUM! These are amazeballs! That is all. =)
