Baby’s now the size of a green olive!
Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like…well…a baby!

So, yes, for those of you that missed the big announcement (a couple of posts down!) I am pregnant with baby #2! The nausea has been constant since before even taking a pregnancy test and the exhaustion is ROUGH this go round. The kicker for the nausea is that I don’t really eat much, hence the losing of lbs. Other than that, I’m feeling good. Ella has started pointing at me saying “Mommy, Baby!” it’s adorable.
This week we set our 1st trimester risk screening so I’ll be going in for bloodwork and an u/s on July 27th, exactly 12 weeks. That falls 2 days after my next regular appointment so it should be a fun week. We shuld be able to hear the heart beat on the 25th and then we’ll get to see baby dos 2 days later. I’m excited to bring Ella to that u/s since the baby will actually look like a baby up on the screen.
In Ella news, she turned 17 month old on Saturday! She has been eating constantly and it’s really making a difference on the scales! At the Dr’s office on the 17th of June she weighed 18 lbs. 15 oz. At home a week and a half later she was up to 19 lbs. 6 oz. I’m going to weigh her again in a few days and see how she’s gaining. They’ve even noticed at daycare her increased eating. Also, just yesterday she started cutting out her morning nursing session. She will nurse for about 1 minute before she’s asking to eat! It’s so exciting. She still nurses religiously at night but she’s starting to wean herself. It’s good timing. I wanted to wait until she was ready to wean herself as she relied heavily on nursing for comfort and I wasn’t going to cut that off. It is SO exhausting though nursing in the early stages of pregnancy so I couldn’t have asked for better timing from her. We’ll see how much longer the bed time sessions last!
Ella moves up to the big kid room at school in August! (if I don’t pull her out, daycare has ticked me off recently!) She starts going over for visits on the 19th and is full time toddler room August 2nd, on which day she’ll be exactly 1 1/2! Insane! She is saying new words daily, and not just repeating. She’ll say them once and then off she goes using them all the time knowing what everything means and asking for things accordingly, she has too many words to count and is also so good at saying the word and signing it, makes communication so much easier! She is finally coming around to liking bath time again (her ear infection a couple of months ago kicked our butts when it comes to bath time!) but diaper changes are the devil now. There’s always something you’re going to lose at. LoL
Overall she is a happy, loving, outgoing, friendly girl. I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing little girl!
