This has to be the best giveaway ever! I know some of you other Mommy’s are a little crunchy so I thought you’d like to know about this giveaway. A Mama Stork Knows is giving away a Babysteps 1-2-3 Natural Feeding System.
I’ve been planning on making Ella’s food since before she was born, and surprisingly Brad just brought up this topic as well. I’m hoping that is a sign that we’ll win, haha. But, if you want your own chance to win, just clicky on the link above and go enter! Good Luck!
That’s right, in less then a week she’ll be 3 months old already! She is the most amazing little girl and I cherish every minute with her! She has started picking things up and bringing them to her mouth recently, and man does she love to squeal when she gets excited! She is so talkative and I just love every “word” that comes out of her mouth!
I think she’s going through her 3 month growth spurt a little early, she has started eating more (again! The boobs never seem to get a break!) and this past week she’s been waking up during the night for feedings. I wish that our pediatricians office did every month well visits, I would like an accurate weight on her for 3 months.
Ella still does well at work for which I am thankful, I’m able to actually get some work done. And speaking of work, I’m trying to figure out some ways to earn extra money without having to work at an actual second job. I’ve been doing some crafts and I want to open a “store” on Etsy, I’ve found a company that sells great childrens books that I could become a rep for, and I’ve also found a gorgeous Jewelry company that I could do Jewelry parties for. I’m quite interested in doing all of those things and the only one that has any start up cost is the Jewelry company but that’s because you get to pick out Jewelry to show. If I did this would anyone around here be interested in hosting a Jewelry party?
Fun story; yesterday we had to take the dogs to the vet to get their shots. This was to be the first car trip with Ella and the dogs (The dogs, I am happy to say did EXCELLENT!) but Ella thought it was the funniest thing that her furry friends were in the car with her. I sat in the back with her (just in case) and it was like watching a tennis match, her eyes would just got back and forth between Cody and Cassidy and then she would get this huge grin on her face and just squeal! It was so cute!
It’s amazing looking at how far Ella has come in 3 short months. She can do so many things, it’s fascinating watching her grow and hit new milestones every day. We were at a Memorial service the other day and one of our friends wives (who works with Children all over the country with language development) said that her vocal skills for not even being 3 months old are far ahead of where the “standard” is. I was so excited to her that, just goes on to support this proud mommas
completely unbiased opinion that my daughter is a genius!
Anyway, I’ll post what you all come here for now, the pictures!
My baby girl is awesome! At 11 weeks & 1 day she just rolled over for the first time! And to make it even better, I put her back on her tummy time mat and she did it again! I’m so proud! Of course I have pictures! I would kick myself if I didn’t have a camera with me at all times!
Today is Ella’s 11 week birthday, who knew that time could go so fast?!
She has already done so many things, she’s been on 2 airplane rides, to a professional baseball game, had pink eye (not the most exciting thing she’s done, haha!). All of the guys at work just love her!
To answer my 1 and only question: Yes, I am unfortunately back at work. I miss being able to spend the day at home, alone, with my daughter. I do get to bring her with me to work though. Her Pack N Play sits in my office and she can sleep through anything the guys are doing out in the shop (i.e. right now there is some MAJOR hammering going on and she is OUT). During my break times we do tummy time and while I’m trying to get some work done she is quite content in her bouncy chair for pretty decent periods of time. She gets tons of visitors coming to meet her every day and as I said all of the guys at work love her, and I am getting good at doing things with 1 hand while she is nursing. =) I am VERY lucky to be able to do this and I am thankful for every day that she isn’t in day care.
We had a rough day yesterday, Ella woke up with Pink eye in the left eye after her right had been clear for 2 days. We got up, gave her the drops, and went to work like normal. Her eye though was so much worse then the right had been though. It seemed like evey time I got all of the “goop” out, 5 minutes later it would be all goopy again. We went home at about noon so that she could be comforted like she needed to be and we went to take a shower (yes together, pedi reccomended and she had been loving them) well, this time she screamed bloody murder through the whole thing and was pretty much inconsolable afterwards. When we went to the Dr. last Wednesday she was shocked that Ella didn’t have an ear infection to go along with her cold and pink eye, she bet me we’d be back in by Friday. Well, Friday came and went, she seemed normal, Saturday and Sunday she was a little more fussy then usual but nothing crazy. So, yesterday when she was so upset over everything I was convinced she had the dreaded ear infection. We called and got her an appointment right away. To my relief, NO ear infection! Woo Hoo and Hallelujah for the powers of breast feeding! Our Pedi is convinced that is the only thing that was fending off the infection. She’s just fussy because she hasn’t been able to breathe well for a week thanks to the cold. So, we left with a script for some infant cold medicine (which of course in our small town isn’t kept in stock at the pharmacy so they had to order it!) so we’ll pick that up this afternoon and she should be all better soon! And we are now at 3 1/2 days with no blood in her diapers! And her stools (sorry if tmi!) are even less watery! She also isn’t struggling as much when she poops. Woo Hoo! I told this to our pedi yesterday and she was elated that stopping the tea worked and said to stay off of dairy, nuts, and eggs, for another week just to give her little tummy some time to heal a little more and then I could have it all again! Yay! And, even though I’m off the tea I haven’t noticed a lack in my supply. I just have to keep on top of my water intake (I’m staying at about 96-128 oz a day!) and we’ve been fine. What a relief!
I’m quite happy at the weight Ella is gaining, she was right at 11 lbs yesterday! I can’t believe how big she’s getting! She’s growing up right before my eyes! Even while she’s been sick she’s been sleeping through the night like a champ. I know for a fact that I want more kids some day; but I’m definitley scared to since she’s been such a good baby.
Ella has been drooling quite a bit recently and any time she can get her hands on something she will pull it up to her mouth and start chewing on it, a sign of teething maybe? So, I have heard amazing things about Sophie The Giraffe and I want to get her one, I think she’ll love it! She has a teething ring and some rattles that she likes to put in her mouth but they seem a little hard for her right now, I think this will be perfect!
Well my little angel is waking up so I’ll leave you with what you really came for, pictures of the gorgeous one!
Ella is already 10 1/2 weeks old, been on 2 plane trips, and now has had her first illness. Her pink eye is pretty much gone already, the cold we are still working on and it just has to work its way out of her system since we can’t really give her anything for it. Our pediatrician was surprised that she didn’t have an ear infection to go along with her cold and pink eye, she pretty much guarateed we’d be back in by today. So far, no super fussy baby or anything that would indicate that she has an ear infection. When we went to the Dr. on Wednesday she was up to 10 lbs 11 oz, I wish I could lose weight as quickly as she seems to be gaining.
WARNING::::Maybe way TMI!
When Ella was 1 day away from being 5 weeks old I noticed some blood in one of her poopy diapers. I freaked out and called the pediatrician and they said it probably wasn’t a big deal, to keep an eye on things and if she was still having blood in her diapers then to lay off of dairy products. I noticed more blood so I cut dairy out of my diet (anyone who knows me knows this is the worst thing to ever happen! haha) well, still bloody stools. So at her 2 month appointment I was told to be super strict with my diet, NO Dairy, no nuts, and no eggs. Yikes! After 3 weeks of that I was supposed to bring in a sample diaper and we’d go from there. Well when we were at home last week I noticed a lot less blood and a lot less often. When we got back, the blood was back. I started thinking to what the heck I did differently, Tea! When Ella was about 4 1/2 weeks old I noticed a dip in my milk supply so I started drinking an organic tea to help boost your supply. While I was at home I didn’t drink as much of the tea and then on Monday when we were back I had 4 cups in a day (You’re supposed to drink 3-5, at home I was drinking 1 a day) and Monday night – Tuesday morning she had 2 super bloody stools in a row. The last cup I had was on Monday night and now she is pretty much blood free, a little trace here and there but it’s still working out of our systems. Why it took me 5 weeks to see the correlation, I don’t know, but I’m just glad we figured it out, hopefully!
Yesterday Ella went to her first Colorado Rockies game, she loved it so much that she slept through most of it. =) (I’ll post pictures tomorrow, they’re on Brad’s camera.) Ella has a new cousin! Aiden was born on Monday the 12th (1 of less the 5% of babies actually born on their due date!) and she is adorable! She’ll always be the cutest 10-week-younger-then-Ella little girl out there. =) Congrats Daniel & Emmaly!
Well sleeping Beauty just woke up and it’s impossible to type while nursing. So I’m going to post pictures (a much easier 1 handed task!) And I will try to post some more tomorrow! Anyone have any questions for me or anything they want to know about Ella or our/my life in general? Leave a comment & I’ll be sure to answer in the next post! On to the pictures!
Our internet is HORRIBLE and will only work for aout 30 minutes a day and at that, it’s pretty hit or miss trying to find out what time of the day it is going to work.
So, for now I’ll just say sorry I haven’t posted more. Ella and I flew home last week for a very unexpected funeral. I am so sorry that Ella never got to meet her Aunt Rhea Dawn and she will be terribly missed. Today Ella was diagnosed with pink eye, we’re assumiong she picked it up at the airport. So, I’m going to tend to my poor fussy baby and I will update more this weekend from work where I have internet that works!
This is just going to be a quick post to give the details from Ellas 2 month appointment today, not even any pictures because I am EXHAUSTED and have a very long day ahead of me tomorrow.
We had to move Ellas appointment from Wednesday up to this morning. She now weighs 10 lbs 8 oz (50th percentile), is 22 3/4″ long (also the 50th percentile), and her head is 15 1/2″ around (the 75th percentile). She’s getting so big!
Her shots were horrible, she had to have 3 in one thigh and 2 in the other, I had to hold down her legs and stare into her eye as her happiness turned to confusion and then to a horrified pain. Worst moment of my life thus far!
I’ll try to post more later, it’s been a rough couple days and I need my sleep to help with the next few that are laid out in front of me.
