What an exciting week! Ella hit the 7 week mark (and now that I’m getting around to writing she’s already almost 8 weeks old!)
My mom flew out last week to spend some time with us for her spring break and we had a GREAT time! Sunday night to Monday morning Ella slept through the night for the first time! I woke up at about 4:30 freaking out and had to make sure she was breathing, she was of course. Then she woke up with Daddy’s alarm at 6 AM! She slept from 9:30-6! It was amazing! Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday nights she woke up once during the night, but now for the last 3 nights she has slept through the night again! She’s such a good girl!
Brad flew down to New Orleans for a guys trip on Monday morning so my mom and I crafted all week, Ella enjoyed every minute! Monday we went down to Denver where it was absolutely gorgeous and pretty much bought out Joann Fabrics. Haha, I’m making Ella some Tutus, I’ve knitted her 3 hats this week, got the material to make her a Tag blanket, my mom and I worked on an aodrable birth announcement for her, we just went nuts.
Ella has started really following you around the room with her eyes, she holds her head up like a seasoned pro, and she is over all just such a good baby! I cannot believe how big she is getting and how much she grows and seems to learn every day. I can’t wait for her first Easter, I went a little nuts at Borders buying books to fill up her basket. She’s also getting a mirror to hang on her crib because she is amazed by mirrors, and she’s getting a little stuffed groundhog that I found and loved! We took her to see the Easter bunny, she was not extremely excited about this! Haha!
On the weight front, a couple days ago I was down to 161! Only 6 lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight! Now I just need to be able to start working out so that I can lose the weight faster and actually get back in to shape!
As for some other new thoughts, I’m thinking about making the switch to cloth diapers. Any opinions? I just cannot stand throwing away all of these diapers! They fill up the landfills and are just SO ridiculously expensive! Where as cloth diapers are a little expensive of an up front cost they are so much better for the environment and are so much nicer then they used to be!
Another giveaway that I would LOVE to win is for the Sling being given away by Cupcake Dream
Ella absolutely HATES the Moby wrap, she doesn’t like being wrapped that tightly. She liked the sling that we do have but it DIGS into my shoulder so I’m not a fan of that one. I think that the Maya Sling being given away would be perfect!
There is a giveaway on a blog that I follow for the most adorable shoes that I have ever seen! It’s an Etsy shop called Little Posh Bebeand the shoes are just adorable.
If you’re also interested in the chance to win some of these adorable shoes you should also check out the blog As The Forest[e] Grows!
Wish me luck because I think that these would look ADORABLE on Ella!
I can’t believe Ella is already 6 weeks old! Although I want time to slow down, I also want to go to her 2 month appointment so we can know how much she’s grown. She seems so much more alert every day. The last couple days have been a little rough because all she has wanted to do is eat, no sleeping for this kid, has to be the dreaded 6 week growth spurt. Monday night was nice, she slept for a 7 hour stretch, then let us sleep until 9 AM! Unheard of! Last night though was the complete opposite, we were up 4 times. Our propane stove out in the living room had been broken too so it was chilly and she wouldn’t eat well and didn’t want to go back to sleep while she was cold so it made for a very long night. Brad thankfully fixed in this morning so we’re all set, no excuses tonight!
I had my 6 week post partum appointment yesterday and got the all clear to get back to normal life. I can do everything I used to, and my incision looks great. Plus I got some awesome news (for me at least!) women who breast feed and take the mini pill (that would be me) normally do not get periods, so I get to be period free for another few months! Score! I’m down to 163 lbs so I now only have a few lbs left to lose (8 to be exact) to get back to pre pregnancy weight. I am so happy to say that I am back in jeans that zip without being uncomfortable, haha. It’s amazing what that’ll do for your self esteem after gaining 40 lbs.
We finally got our professional photos back today and I ordered our birth announcements tonight. I am so excited to send them out, I absolutely LOVE them! Plus thanks to my savy(Cheap!)ness they were under $1 a piece including shipping & tax. I ordered from shutterfly and it’s their anniversary so cards were 20% through today, plus I had a $20 off card for registering at Target, plus I had a code for free shipping ($15 savings!), plus a code to get 3 cards free! That’s a lot of pluses and added up to about $70 in savings! Go me!
Well, I’m going to go wake my munchkin up for a bath and then get her to bed! Here are a couple pictures to leave you with. =)
Ha! Love that one!
I’ll post more later but now I HAVE to go, she woke up on her own, surprise! Haha
My little girl is getting so big!
She holds her head up like a champ. Sometimes she’ll fall asleep after nursing and I’ll go to put her on my chest to burp her, I’ll think she’s asleep and then BAM her head pops up and she’s staring me right in the face for quite a while. Brad got to experience that this morning, he enjoyed it.
She is smiling so much more often during the day now and responds a lot to our voices. If we aren’t right in front of her she can tell where the voice is coming from and will start looking at you. So cute!
This morning we hit a milestone, she’s no longer in Newborn sized diapers. I had been questioning how tight they were getting for a couple days and now she is officially in size 1’s! This doesn’t really surprise me as she eats ALL. THE. TIME!
She’s starting to wake up so I’ll post a picture now (I think she’s going through a growth spurt, she’s been up since 6:30 and has only been napping for about 20 minutes! Now it’s tiem to eat again.)
So, this morning we had Ella’s photo shoot! It was wonderful, she took so many pictures and gave us an amazing deal!
We should get the pictures back within a week or so, so be on the look out! I can’t wait to see them!
How is it possible to love someone so much in one second? Minute? Hour? Day? Week? And now a month?! How is it possible that a month has gone by already!? My baby girl is a month old today!
The past month has gone by so quickly and she is so advanced (I’m not biased at all!). She can already hold her head up on her own for quite a long period of time, this amazes everyone that sees it. She’s already pushing up with her legs and pushing off of me with her arms, she’s such a strong little girl! She nurses like a champ and that is such an incredible experience. I LOVE having that bonding time with her. I am happy (and incredibly lucky!) to announce that Ella has never spit up. (Knock on wood, eh?!) She used to be horribly gassy and would need Mylicon drops constantly but as she’s getting older she has started being able to burp (oh yes, this baby would not burp for anything!) but still has never spit up. Woo Hoo!
We weighed her last night on our home scale and she is up to right around 9 lbs. We need to measure her but I’d guess she is at least 21 1/2 inches now, she’s growing like a little weed. She is awake and alert for most of the day now, she loves her bouncy seat and her swing.
I love reading to her and watching her eyes get bigger as I change my voice. So far, she seems to love the pictures in Goodnight Moon. I think it’s her favorite so far. My favorite to read to her is “I’ll Love You Forever” but I still can’t get through it without a couple tears. =)
Daddy likes to call her Squirrel. She puts both of her hands up by her mouth and nibbles at them, that’s where that came from. I call her Munchkin or Poop Machine, seriously, this kid rivals her Dad. Haha Cassidy loves her and is always wanting to smell her, Cody loves her too and gets quite excited and licks her head. Rocky is getting more outgoing and will jump up in my lap while we’re nursing, sniff her, and jump right back off. And Lucy, or satan, has a maternal side. If Ella is crying in the morning and Brad and I don’t get to her quick enough, Lucy will be up on the bed whining to let me know that Ella is upset. It’s actually quite cute!
And here is my 1 month post partum belly pic:
Not too bad, I’m getting smaller. I actually only have 11 lbs left to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight!
I started at 155, at L&D I was 195. I’m currently at 166 with a weight goal of getting down to at least 140 if not 135. I have 2 more weeks until I can start working out and I’m giving myself a year (I’m being realistic) to get to my weight goal. So on Ella’s first birthday (crazy to say!) I will hopefully be at least 140 if not 135 lbs.
My incision feels a little better every day and I’m a little less sore every day. I go for my 6 week check up on the 16th (Which is exactly 6 weeks) and should get clearance to get life back to normal. Except for working out, anyone that knows me knows that I’m a slacker when it comes to working out. But, I have 2 bridesmaid dresses that I have to fit into in May, so I need to lose the pooch. =)
Hope everyone has been doing well!
