Update on the to-do list

4. Assemble the Pack N Play.
7. Make appointment to have Car Seat Installation checked by the fire department.

Oh yes, yesterday morning I got the Pack N Play all put together so it could be airing out. Don’t want it to smell like it’s JUST out of the box. And out car seat installation is good to go. Now I just need to teach Brad how to insert and remove the seat itself to and from the base. It’s easy, he’ll be fine.
This morning we went out to breakfast before he, Darren, and Alicia went down to Denver for a concert tonight. While we were there I noticed that their dessert of the day was Strawberry Rhubarb pie. It sounded amazing and I haven’t had any in years, so I got a piece to go. I just had it for dessert and it was delicious! And now I have the house to myself so no one can make fun of me for going to bed at 7:30. =)
Tomorrow is my 35 week appointment. Brad won’t be able to make it, he’s staying in Denver tonight after the concert and he didn’t drive so he won’t be making it up to Evergreen for the 9 AM start time. But, after the appointment I’m headed down to Denver to do some more baby shopping. Plus, perfect timing, yesterday in the mail I got a “completion coupon” from Target. It’s for 10% off anything I buy left on our registry. So, I’m doing some gift card shopping again and will be able to save some more money. Excited about that one!
Of course after it hasn’t snowed in forever today/tonight it is snowing, so I have to leave my house at about 7 for a 9 am appointment just to be on the safe side. So, on that note I’m going to leave you with a couple pictures of the Pack N Play and then I’m going to take a shower and go to bed! I’ll try to update tomorrow when I get home from shopping about how the appointment went. Not sure how much time I’ll have because we’re going out to dinner with Darren and Alicia for new years, but I will post at some point! Promise! =)

35/35

What does 35/35 mean, you ask? Quite interesting really, in the pregnancy world it means that I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with only 35 days to go until my due date. Funny how that works out huh?
Yesterday I went ahead and ordered the extra pages that I wanted to have our baby book complete through 5 years of age. I can’t wait until they get here so I can put them in where I want them. And included in that order was a more in depth section for pregnancy. Thank goodness I have this blog so that I can look back and remember things to put in her book. I’ve also heard from people to have a date book for after she’s born so that I can make little notes on it of things that I want to remember to add to her book, so thankfully I just got a gorgeous date book from my mom for Christmas.
I have my next midwife appointment on Thursday and then after that I’m going to take some of my Christmas money and go buy the rest of the things that I need for my hospital bag and some other baby stuff. Plus I’d like to buy a small CD player so I can have music in the birthing suite. There’s so many things to think about for the bag. Like they say to bring night gowns, I don’t own any night gowns. So I asked my friend Alicia what this was about and she said she wished she had listened. She only brought PJ pants and tops with her and pants we the MOST uncomfortable thing. So, night gowns it is. I guess those will go nicely with the mesh underwear they give you that I’m told is a god send. Haha. Someone also told me to bring some sour lollipops with me. Since I know I don’t want the epi I hopefully won’t have to have an IV so it’ll be easier to get dehydrated, sour lollipops help you to produce more saliva to help combat the dehydration. Who thinks of these things?! Whoever does, I’m glad they told me. So, sour lollipops and night gowns are definitely on my shopping list. Anyone else have any little known secrets they would like to share?
Heartburn is my worst enemy lately. I feel like I could spit fire 90% of the day. Well Rachel, what did you eat to cause the heartburn? Oh, even water, WATER, will do it now. It’s quite exhausting, I recently found a stash of tums that Brad keeps up in his locker so I don’t have to try to remember to bring them with me from home.
After my appointment on the 31st I’ll start going weekly. So after I know what time my appointment will be on the 7th I’m going to call the spa in Denver and try to get my appointment for my prenatal massage set up for that afternoon. I cannot wait, I am so excited about that. And I wish that the people Brad ordered my necklace from would e-mail him back with a specific date about when it will no longer be back ordered. They just tell him he’ll get it in January of 2010. Way to be vague people.
I was talking to a girl online the other day who had just done a 6 week child birth class. Something they brought up that she thought was strange, they told all of the mothers not to cross their legs. It closes off your pelvis and it is harder for the child to engage properly. Has anyone else heard this? I guess it kind of makes sense but I had never heard that before. I keep my legs crossed 99% of the time normally so I keep catching myself and am really trying hard not to. I’ll ask my midwife on Thursday, but in the mean time I’m actually TRYING to sit as un-lady like as possible. Haha, good thing my lower half resides under a desk most of the day. =)
How far along? 35 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I was up 31 lbs about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I’ll find out the new number on Thursday, not looking forward to this as I now have a double chin! Urgh!
Maternity clothes? Yup
stretch marks? Still there, I think the additions have come to a halt though.
Sleep: Good and bad, it depends on the night.
Best moment this week: Well, it was Christmas. =)
Movement: All. The. Time.
Food cravings: Still apple juice, I’m telling myself that tomorrow is the last of it though. It’s just empty calories that aren’t helping to slow the weight gain.
Gender: A little princess.
Labor Signs: None so far, I wonder when they’ll start doing internals (if at all, I’ve heard the midwives don’t really like to check. Don’t want to get your hopes up) so I can see if my body is progressing at all. I would LOVE to be one of those women that is progressed to about 4 or 5 cm before they even start active labor. =)
Belly Button in or out? Still a half & half-er
What I miss: My waist!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our little girl, it’s going to be such an amazing day!
Weekly Wisdom: Never leave the tums too far behind. Haha
Milestones: Only 35 days left until our due date!
And from the websites:
Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that she’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, she isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight. From now on, baby’s growth is mostly in the plumping up department — though she won’t get much longer, she’ll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. (He’s about 15 percent right now and will be about 30 percent by full-term.) Her hearing is totally developed (tip: baby responds best to higher pitches).
And for the weekly photos side to side first:

And from the front:
Alright, I suppose that’s all for this week. I’ll post after my appointment & shopping spree on Thursday. I’m so excited to have most of the stuff for the baby purchased after then. And I still have to tackle putting together the Pack N Play and organizing her room again from all of our shower gifts and her Christmas presents. Time to get a move on. =)
I hope everyone has a great week!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Wanted to take a minute to say Merry Christmas to everyone, we love you all!
We celebrated Christmas yesterday since we both have to work today. Everyone’s gifts were so generous, thanks so much! It brings tears to my eyes knowing how much we are loved and how much support we have from our families, it means the world to us.
For fun, here is a quick picture of my Brad at 11 yesterday morning before I MADE him get up.

Aren’t they sweet? I really like how Cody is actually using my pillow. But Brad and I were able to have a very nice dinner together and get all of our gifts open. I can’t wait to get some DVD’s so I can try out the camcorder that we got each other. And Brad went a little over board I think. Not only did he get me a gift certificate to go down to a spa in Denver for a prenatal massage (CANNOT wait!, haha) but he also got me the most gorgeous necklace. Well, a picture of it for now. He ordered it and was then contacted being told it was on back order. But it’s so pretty, it’s a Circle of Life Mother & Child necklace and I just love it already.
The rest of our day spent just being lazy and it was wonderful. I wish we could spend some time together this evening but, it’s just not possible. I’ll get to see him a little when he gets to work, and I get to see him every other day. =)
I’m going to get back to work now, my phone has been ringing non stop this morning.
I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas!

Update on the "To Do" List

I actually got a lot accomplished yesterday.
1. Call the insurance company to get my Short Term Disability lined out.
2. Call pediatrician to see if they want to have a visit before she’s here and to ask questions.
3. Call Registration at the hospital and make sure they got my forms!
5. Assemble the Stroller.
6. Install the Car Seat.

Granted item #1 is only about half done but totally not my fault. I called my insurance company and they are idiots. The person on the phone told me they only handle existing claims and gave me the number of some other person to call. Whatever, I call the number that they gave me and it is an insurance rep to sign me up for Short Term Disability, which I’ve been paying into for 3 years now. So, that woman called our HR rep, who then called me and was quite frustrated with the insurance company for not doing its job. So, in the end she ended up starting a Short Term Disability claim for me and the insurance company will call me withing the next week or so for all of my information. But if I don’t hear from them by next Tuesday I’ll be calling them again. Everything else though I really did get done. Haha, I called the pediatricians office and they had me register online. Now all I have to do is when we’re on the way back from the hospital with Ella, call them and stop by and they will do an oxygen check and schedule her newborn appointment for the next day.
I also called the hospital to make sure they got my pre-registration forms since I hadn’t received anything from them. I am in fact pre-registered and I guess it is up to the insurance company to send you an estimate of hospital costs, and surprise (with the great customer service they offer!) ours doesn’t do it. I assembled the stroller which was WAY easier then the swing, go figure. And I installed the car seat base in my car. I’ll call sometime next week to make an appointment to get it inspected.
So for now, here are a couple pictures of my handywork with the stroller and car seat.

And now I must go to bed because tonight, Santa is coming to our house! =)

Baby Book

So, like I said, our baby book was delivered yesterday and I LOVE it! Here are some pictures.
Here is the front cover:

And here are the two options that we have for her name to go in the cover:

And then here are some of the pages:

And there is a family tree, plenty of room for everything related to the pregnancy, when we first heard the heart beat, when each of us first felt her move, etc. This goes all the way through the first year with plenty of extra pages for journaling and pictures. Then you can also buy extra pages (which I’m going to) for all of her first holidays, trips, and through her 5th birthday. I’m so excited to get started working on this, I just love it! And it’s great quality!
Okay, now I’m going to call the insurance company about Short Term Diasbility so I can mark one thing off my list. And can you believe it’s almost Christmas?! We’ll be celebrating on Christmas Eve so it’s even sooner for us. =)
Have a good week!

Yay!

So this isn’t extremely exciting for everyone else but, I was QUITE excited to see that my baby book was delivered today! I cannot wait to get off work and go get it. I’ll post pictures in the next day or so because I just know it’s going to be so much cuter in person then in the online advertisement!

Wow!

I found my next baby item that I CANNOT live without. Hahaha! I know we already have a hand me down so this is completely a want and not a need. But, I HAVE to have it! Hahaha.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE IT?! I think that a trip to target might be in order. =)

34 Weeks and a To-Do list

I’ve been at work since 5:30 this morning so I apologize if this post rambles a little or just plain doesn’t make too much sense. Since more of the mountain is opening the parents of our co-worker and good friend, Jeremy, who died in October, were able to come up and do a memorial service for him up here. I didn’t get to go up for it but Brad said it was extremely hard, they wanted to spread his ashes here on the mountain where he loved to be, so they had each of his friends grab a handful and ski to a place where they had gone together or that they knew he loved to scatter their handful. A lot of the guys came back to the shop still crying or quite shaken up. I just hope that this gave them all a little more closure. I know I myself keep expecting him to walk through the doors any day now like nothing happened.
I know I say something to this affect in every weekly post, but I just cannot believe how fast the time is going. I’m only 3 weeks away from being considered “Full Term”, CRAZY!
Nothing super exciting happened this week that I haven’t talked about already. I got all of my Christmas gifts wrapped and mailed off, a little later then normal but I was just happy I was done with it. We did our Babies R Us trip which I enjoyed thoroughly, now I’m trying to talk Brad into a dinner and a movie date night, the Blindside is playing up here. Yes, I’ve already seen it but I LOVE sports movies in general and this was just a great movie and I would love to see it again. We’ll see how that goes, he doesn’t seem too thrilled with the idea of seeing it but I already guarenteed him that he would like it 1000 times better then New Moon.
I feel like we still have so much to do and such a short time to do it in. Here is my Left To DO list, or at least what I can think of off the top of my head.
1. Call the insurance company to get my Short Term Disability lined out.
2. Call pediatrician to see if they want to have a visit before she’s here and to ask questions.
3. Call Registration at the hospital and make sure they got my forms!
4. Assemble the Pack N Play.
5. Assemble the Stroller.
6. Install the Car Seat.
7. Make appointment to have Car Seat Installation checked by the fire department.
8. Pack bags for hospital
9. Buy necessary items still needed for hospital bags.
10. Stock up on Diapers, Wipes, ointments.
11. Assemble the co-sleeper.
I think that’s all that needs to be done. I’m sure I’ll be adding to the list as I think of things. I plan on calling the pediatrician and the insurance company on Tuesday, so I’ll be able to cross those off the list soon I hope.
How far along? 34 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: + 31 lbs as of a week and a half ago. I’ll find out the new number on the 31st.
Maternity clothes? Yup
stretch marks? Yup, no new ones this week but the bottom half of my tummy still looks like a Zebra.
Sleep: It goes back and forth.
Best moment this week: Feeling her press her little foot into my hand yesterday was AMAZING, Brad getting to feel the hiccups, our shopping trip was fun, getting the swing put together, getting a box full of cookies from Shelly (thanks!), and I ordered our baby book, oh AND my back pain decreasing immensely. Can’t wait to get it, hopefully Monday or Tuesday. Haha, it was a pretty good week.
Movement: All the time, we have a little dancing queen. (“Play Momma Mia!”) Haha, sorry, that might not make sense to some of you, but I just have to say, my Niece is AWESOME. Haha
Food cravings: Apples and Apple Juice (though I’m going to try and cut out the apple juice. I think I can blame that for some of the weight gain) and Almonds.
Gender: A little girl.
Labor Signs: Nope, don’t need those for a few more weeks still.
Belly Button in or out? Top half is a full fledged outtie, the bottom half is still hanging on for dear life.
What I miss:I still miss being able to bend over like a skinny girl, I miss being able to roll over at night without waking myself up. Haha, but in all seriousness and most of all, I miss my wedding band. My fingers have started swelling a little and they don’t fit any more. I miss them!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our little girl and seeing the look on Brads face when she makes her appearance in this world.
Weekly Wisdom: Don’t take your energy for granted, it’s very easy to over do it at this stage in pregnancy, and oh, your body lets you know it.
Milestones: 34 weeks, amazing. Only 3 weeks away from full term and only 6 weeks away from our due date (Ella, please feel free to come any day except for January 23rd! Thank You!)
And the websites say:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she’ll need to regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies. Baby can recognize and react to simple songs…time to start practicing your lullabies! In fact, baby will recognize frequently sung tunes after birth and probably find them soothing. Less cute news: She now urinates about one pint per day. Get the diapers ready! (*It’s on the list of things to do! Haha)

And now for fun I thought I would do a fun Comparison, here is my belly at 14 weeks:

As compared to 24 weeks:
As compared to this week, at 34 weeks:
Wow have I rounded out, hahaha! And now for the rest of the weekly pictures. =)
And from the front:
And from the top:
So, that’s all for now. I’ll probably post when I get my baby book so I can put up some pictures! I can’t wait, or when something exciting happens. Otherwise I hope everyone has a great week!

Last thing today I promise. . . . . . . .(unless I think of something else)

So, this morning I was sitting at work not feeling too great. I had earlier had my morning glass of apple juice (yes I’m still addicted) and Ella was going NUTS! She was kicking my right side just underneath my ribs and so I put my palm there and kind of pressed down. Well she pressed back, not a quick kick but really pressed her foot into my hand, I could feel the whole outline of her foot. Coolest thing ever! That is all, until tomorrows update. =)

Oh yeah!

So, if you’ve been reading this blog regularly then you know that I have been having some back pain, and it gets pretty bad at times. Well; Thursday night Ella was moving more then ever before, it was crazy all the directions my stomach was going. Well I’m wondering if she hadn’t been back to back with me (sunny side up, not a good thing when it comes to delivery and causes horrible back labor) and if she flipped around and is now front to back like she should be. Because ever since then, my back is 85% better. I still get pretty stiff after sitting for 10 hours a day at work, but I feel so much better!
That is all. =)
