After Thought. . . . .

Does anyone else feel like this pregnancy is FLYING by? I mean, for the most part we told our families the day after we found out. We kept it to ourselves for Carb day but then we let you all know, so I was right at 4 weeks pregnant then, and now we’re at 31 weeks already! Man, how exciting! These next 9 weeks are going to be gone before  know it, especially with the shower, Christmas, and New Years all thrown in there!

And an Urgh. A friend of mine who is also pregnant called Babies R Us about the sale items on her registry just showing up. The items are only available at that price online and it’s only through December 4th, ekk. Now I really have some decisions to make!

31 Weeks!

This past week has been nice, I didn’t have to work quite as much as I thought I would have to and now tomorrow I only have to work until 10. I don’t know yet if our Part Time guy is going to start or not so tomorrow might be my only “day off” but I’m really hoping to have at least 2 days off again.
My baby shower out here is 2 weeks from yesterday, it’s so exciting. I logged on to our Babies R Us registry today to see if there was anything we needed to add since the invites went out this week. To my surprise our Swing and the video monitor that I Badly want were on sale. I was super excited about that but the only thing is it doesn’t say how long the sale lasts, it just says “List Price:xxxx Our Price:xxxx” so of course the list price is the regular price and the Our Price is the sale price but it doesn’t say how long. So now I’m tortured over whether to use some of the gift cards and buy them now or wait and see if anyone buys them for us as a group gift for the shower and risk them not being on sale after the shower. Decisions decisions! There are a LOT of people invited so I’m hoping there’s room in our house for everyone. I told Brad we could just park our cars next to the garage and him and all of the other guys could hang out in there. =)
I told Brad that after our weekend this week I would like to have our stenciling done around the border of the room and the Dresser put together. That way I can start putting furniture where I want it and going through clothes, getting everything washed, and determining whether it can be hung or needs to go in the dresser. Then when the crib is in place I can hang the wall letters and we’ll be getting so close!
Tomorrow when I’m down in Evergreen & Denver I’m making the obligatory WalMart run and I’m going to look for a little step ladder so we won’t have to improvise on safety while stenciling. Then my plan (since I’ll have to whole afternoon to myself!) is to do a tiny bit of Christmas shopping and go see the movie “The Blindside”. I want to see it so bad and Brad doesn’t really want to, so I’ll be that girl. The pregnant lady sitting by myself, bawling my eyes out. Hahaha. I like going to movies by myself and I already dragged him to see New Moon this week (sorry Brad!) but I liked it.
In pregnancy news things are still going good. I have my appointment at 11:30 tomorrow to see how much weight I’ve gained, where I’m measuring, and listen to her heart beat. My back is starting to ache on an almost constant basis which sucks but it’s manageable if I change positions frequently. I have a yoga ball in my office which I’ll sit on quite a few times during the day and that helps a little. Also breathing is getting a little harder with her up in my lungs, I have to take super deep breaths every few minutes. I’m having trouble reminding myself to drink enough water during the day while at work, so I find my fingers are swelling a little bit. I’m trying to get better at remembering though and I’m about ready to tell Brad that every time he talks to me during the day to remind me to go get some water. I’ve had 2 weird spells in the last couple weeks (and even more odd is that is has been the last 2 Saturdays) where in the morning I’ll get really hot and then kind of dizzy/nauseous. Last Saturday I thought it was because I’d been working too much and my body was telling me to slow down, but then it happened again yesterday, not nearly as drastic as the week before but it happened none the less. Rest assured that will be brought up with the midwife tomorrow.
Tomorrow I am mailing in my final car payment, what a weight to have lifted! So everyone please keep your fingers crossed that now that it’s paid off nothing goes wrong with it, LoL.
How far along? 31 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +24 lbs as of 11/12, will find out tomorrow for sure.
Maternity clothes? Oh yes
stretch marks? Urgh, I hate them. But I’ve started using Bio Oil on them and they look lighter already.
Sleep: Not horrible, not great.
Best moment this week: Thanksgiving was awesome, getting the guest bed out of the nursery. Finding out that my cousins are having a little girl in April (Congrats Daniel and Emmaly!)
Movement: All the time!
Food cravings: Apple Juice – The Simply Apple brand is AMAZING!
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: None yet
Belly Button in or out? 3/4 flat 1/4 outtie. Haha, the top right portion is an outtie, the rest is hanging on for dear life to stay in!
What I miss: Bending over comfortably.
What I am looking forward to: Working on the nursery with Brad this weekend, and in 9 (maybe!) more weeks meeting our little girl!
Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy every minute of pregnancy because it goes by WAY too fast!
Milestones: 31 Weeks, crazy! Every week is a milestone.
And the websites say:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (who knows what she really weighs now***!) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She’s probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby’s kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy. Baby’s going through major brain and nerve development these days. Her irises now react to light, and all five senses are in working order. (She won’t pick up anything from her nose until after birth, though — smell is transferred through air, not amniotic fluid.)

***I am not going to worry about how big she is or isn’t. I was told by a friend of mine who is on her third child that they told her at about 27 weeks that she would have a 9 lb baby and he was barely 7. He just had long legs and since the thigh bone is one of the measurements that they use to guess the growth they were thrown off. If you remember back after our 20 week u/s they told us she has SUPER long legs, so I’m not worried.
Now on to belly pictures. Here is the side view, I did one from each side this week:

And the view from the front:
And a view from the top, yes that’s right, I can no longer see my feet when just normally looking down:
And that’s about it for this week, I’ll update a little tomorrow night with Dr.’s appointment info. I hope everyone has a great week!

Woo Hoo!

Christmas Cards are a Go! We made our decision last night and got them ordered. The cards will be ready for pick up any time after 4 PM tonight. So, I can just pick them up on Monday while I’m down there for my Dr.’s appointment. Speaking of Dr.’s appointments, I was just thinking last night, why couldn’t they have scheduled me for the Monday before Thanksgiving instead of the Monday after, I’m going to be huge! =)

Happy (Day Late) Thanksgiving!

I hope that everyone had a great holiday, I know we did. We actually got to sleep in a little which was wonderful, I really needed it. Alicia, my friend who actually worked opposite of me last year had the week off of school so she offered to start back early so I could have some days off. So I got 2 days off instead of just the 1 that I was expecting. The sleep was so nice, too bad sleeping in any more is up at around 8:30. =)
Brad and I were able to just hang out most of the day, watch some football and get some cleaning and cooking done. Darren came over around 3 with Kasen and took some pictures of Brad and I with the dogs for Christmas cards, the only problem now is that I like all of these for one reason or another and I don’t know which to choose. =)
Alicia came over when she got off work, we played some Euchre, played with Kasen some more, and waited for the turkey to “pop”. While we were getting ready to take pictures Kasen wanted to take some, so you hear him say “Daddy, say cheese!” even though the camera is pointed at himself and you end up with this as the end product:

Haha. On Wednesday I bought the paint to do the border in the nursery with, now we just need to do it. And yesterday before we ate I made Brad and Darren move the bed out of there. So now we actually have room to work and get everything put together. I cannot wait until it’s all done! So I think that next week we’ll be stenciling a border and hopefully putting together the dresser so I can get all the clothes washed and put away. I can’t believe how close to the end we’re getting!

Christmas Card Pictures

So, my photo shoot was a complete BUST! Just goes to show not to plan out anything ever. It had been gorgeous for DAYS and on Monday it was cloudy and FREEZING cold and completely windy up on the pass. I look fat and miserable in all of the pictures! So, I think we’re going to try and do a do-over tomorrow during the day while everything is sitting here cooking. Brad had a cute idea for where to take a picture so we’re going to try that and I’m making Darren follow us around to take the picture. =) Thanks Darren for putting up with me!

30 Weeks, AKA 75% DONE!

30 Weeks already! CRAZY! I cannot believe that in 10 short weeks we’ll be meeting our little girl. And time is going to fly between now and then! Not only is Thanksgiving in 4 short days but then we have another baby shower, followed by Christmas, then New Years, and then it’s January already! Where does the time go?!
This week has been fun, you’ve seen my adventures with WalMarts posts, I’ve also had many fun conversations (where I don’t think I sound rude or hormonal, just pointing out the obvious) such as:
Person #1: Man, you’re getting huge.

Me: I’m pregnant, that’s my excuse, what’s yours?
Person #2: ::Giggles at either my wittiness or thinks he’s funny for what is about to come out of his mouth::: We should call you the pumpkin smuggler!
Me: Wow, I bet no one has ever thought to say that to a pregnant person before, how original. I wish I could be more like you guys. (Stated in a VERY dry manner) And then I walked off, leaving them sitting there silent.
I do wonder if they think they are original or if they think they’re just the only people to make “huge” comments. Either way it’s quite obnoxious, I know I’m getting bigger, I am in fact pregnant and this is supposed to happen. Oh well. Makes you wonder why either they’re A: Not Married, Or B: Don’t have kids. Oh wait, not really.
So this has been an exhausting week, I worked Monday, had Tuesday off, and have worked every day since then. My next day off (that I know of) will be Thanksgiving. So, Tuesday we cleaned the house a little and took the recycling to the dump, Brad chopped a lot of wood. I feel bad that I can’t help him this year, even stacking it once its split, I just can’t bend over that much though. Even gathering laundry is exhausting. Thursday our dresser/changer finally came in so we went down to WalMart after I got off work to pick that up. Brad is so sweet, while we were there he wanted to look at space heaters for Ella’s room (our house tends to stay a little chilly). He knew exactly the one he wanted, he had looked online at what temperature a babys room needs to stay at and then researched heaters. He then found the one he KNEW he wanted, with a digital readout, a remote control, and is rated to stay within 1 degree of where you set it. :::melt::: So, they actually had it at wal mart so we snagged it so it’s ready to go. He’s so awesome. Well, we spent way too much money at Walmart (don’t we always) but we shouldn’t have to go back for a while. And now we have our last piece of nursery furniture at home, just need to put it together so I can start washing all the tiny little baby clothes and they’ll have a place to go!
I’m starting to get completely antsy about what needs to be done and what we need still to get, I know we still have another showe coming up and that it’s 7 weeks before our due date, but it just seems like there is still so much that we need to do/buy! I finally got our stencils for the border, now we just need time to paint. So I need to go buy the paint and then maybe on Thanksgiving when we’re both off it can be a nice couple hour project that we can do while cooking. I can’t wait to get things all in place! It’s so exciting to see it all coming together, I can’t wait until it’s done so I can put up more pictures for everyone to see!
So, this morning when we got up it was super cloudy and it had snowed a little over night. Not much at all because even on the resort page (and they LOVE to exaggerate) says we got only 2 inches. But thankfully it has since cleared up and I can see blue skies again. Hopefully it stays that way at least until tomorrow night. I think Brad and I are going to leave work a little early so we can meet up with Darren and Alicia to take pictures for our Christmas cards. I’m getting antsy for that too! Last year I had mine addressed and ready to go by this time! Eeek!
How far along? 30 Weeks!

Total weight gain/loss: +24 lbs as of 11/12. Next appointment is 11/30
Maternity clothes? Yes, all day every day.
stretch marks? Urgh, trying something new to keep them away!
Sleep: Not bad recently
Best moment this week: Brad, enough said.
Movement: All the time, I love watching my stomach dance. =)
Food cravings: Not really any, still back to normal.
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Flat
What I miss: Bending over. . . . . still
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our little girl!
Weekly Wisdom: I’m not feeling particularly wise this week. So no wisdom to share. =)
Milestones: 30 Weeks! I can’t believe we only have 10 left!
And the websites say:
Your baby’s about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (Ha! I’ve got an over-achiever on my hands!) (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it’s not very keen; even after she’s born, she’ll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.) As baby’s skin smoothes out, her brain just keeps getting more wrinkled. All those grooves and indentations increase surface area, meaning more room for that oh-so-essential brain tissue. She’s also adding some brawn — her grip is now strong enough to grasp a finger.
And for the photos:

And for the front view:
Alright, if we get anything exciting done to the nursery before next Sunday, I’ll update! Have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Walmart Update. . . . . .

It is now exactly 48 hours since our dresser left Loveland and NO update on the website. This is ridiculous! I’m going to call the store and hopefully be able to talk to someone who can tell me where the darn thing is.

I just got off the phone with the most helpful person at Walmart! He had checked his computer and it wasn’t showing that it had arrived and I think he heard how bummed I sounded so he was like, we just got a truck in about an hour ago, let me go check and see if it was on that one. He came back a couple minutes later, and it was! So it’s there and we can go pick it up tonight when I get off work! YAY! Who would have ever thought I would be so excited over furniture!

WalMart is EVIL!

Urgh! So on Sunday the 7th I ordered our dresser/changing table from WalMart. I was so excited, couldn’t wait for the 18th so we could go pick it up as that is/should be the last of the furniture! Well, today is the 18th and NO dresser. It sat in Utah for 4 days before going to Loveland, CO. Then yesterday morning at 9:17 AM it left Loveland Colorado to go to the store in Evergreen (MAYBE a 2 hour drive). Now 27 hours later they still haven’t even updated there site so even if my beautiful dresser is just sitting there, the earliest we’ll be able to pick it up is tomorrow because it won’t update in the system until then. When technically it COULD have been here 4 days ago if they hadn’t let it just sit in Utah doing nothing.
Sorry I had to vent, it frustrates me (not just when pregnant, but all the time) when companies just let things sit there and it is something that you are excited about/waiting for!
Vent Over!

29 Weeks and counting!

Wow, in a little less then a week we’ll be 3/4 of the way done, that’s insane. I definitely find myself freaking out about getting the nursery done in time. I ordered our dresser/changing table last week and it should be in tomorrow so one of us will go pick it up then. I’m still waiting on my stencils so I can do the border on the wall, I hope it turns out okay.
On Saturday we had our childbirth class, the instructor was very supportive of natural child birth, 2 out of her 4 were natural. I was the only person in the class who wanted to go all natural, the rest of the couples looked at me like I had horns when I said I didn’t want drugs. Oh well, you can’t please everyone. I think although Brad still thinks I’m crazy, he is coming around to the idea. The instructor gave us some relaxation techniques that we could do during contractions that I think will help. I’m getting so excited, I can’t believe how fast time is going!
After the class though it took forever for us to get home, we ran a couple errands while we were down in Denver and when we left the last store it was snowing. Semis had decided it was a great idea to just stop where they were on I-70 to chain up so you had to kind of play frogger to get around them. Then when we finally made it to our exit another semi had jack-knifed across the road and had run into oncoming traffic so we sat on the on ramp for about an hour and a half waiting for everything to get cleaned up. So after leaving Denver at about 6 PM we got home at about 9:30. We should have been home by about 7:30 at the latest, the roads weren’t bad at all it was just the idiots driving on them.
So these next 4 weeks or so are going to be very busy for me, I’m working 6 days a week until Alicia (who will be covering my days off at work) gets out of school on either December 12th or 14th. It’s kind of awesome because we need the money right now but it will be exhausting. At least the 2 days a week that I’m going in will be shorter days then normal, instead of 6-4:30 I’ll only be working 7:30/8 till 4:30. And at least I sit at work instead of having to be on my feet all the time. I talked to my boss that will be dispatching on my 1 day off and him and his family always do Thanksgiving on the weekend following so next week my day off will be Thursday. That’ll be nice since it will be our last Thanksgiving with just the 2 of us. When I broached the subject with my boss I posed it as “since it will be our last Thanksgiving without a screamer.” Brad was there and was like”We won’t have a screamer, she’ll come out asking for things politely.” =) He’s so cute, just the pride you hear in his voice already every time he says her name, it makes me melt.
How far along? 29 Weeks 2 Days
Total weight gain/loss: Urgh, up to 24 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Always
stretch marks? I hate them, lotions do not prevent them!
Sleep: It goes back and forth.
Best moment this week: Childbirth class was good, getting Thanksgiving off was excellent! Oooh! And I got some winter boots that I don’t have to tie! =)
Movement: All the time, she’s our little gymnast.
Food cravings: Not so many cravings anymore. I’m back to normal.
Gender: Little Girl!!
Labor Signs: I think I may have had my first BH Contraction, not sure though.
Belly Button in or out? 1/2 and 1/2, the top is trying to poke out and the bottom is just staying neutral.
What I miss: Bending over
What I am looking forward to: Having our little girl and seeing how Cody and Cassidy react to her.
Weekly Wisdom: Don’t take anything for granted, time goes too fast.
Milestones: 29 Weeks!
What the websites have to say about Ella this week:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (Haha our little girl is an over achiever!) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, you’ll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby’s hardening skeleton each day. Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to white fat depositing beneath her skin. And since she’s growing so fast, things are getting kind of cramped in the womb. What all this means for you: Get ready for some more kicks and jabs to the ribs.
And now for some pictures! Lucy loves all the baby things that are coming in. My friend Rachel (good name, I know) has given us TONS of clothes and some other items. Lucy’s favorite item is the bouncy seat though, so here are some pictures of Lucy testing out the new merchandise.
Rocky on the other hand seems to be afraid of all things Baby.
And here is my ever expanding belly:

And from the front:
And from now on since my work schedule will be somewhat normal (when I’m done with my 4 weeks of hell I’ll be Friday through Monday) I’ll be posting weekly updates on Sundays since that is the day that I go over to a new week.
