Where did July go?

I cannot believe that tomorrow is the last day of July! Where did it all go? And I also cannot believe that I am at 14 weeks and that when I talk to my midwife she’s already mentioning the “big” u/s. That is just crazy to me.
When this all started out I didn’t want to know the sex of the baby but now, I do and it seems like 6 weeks is so far away! And of course I’ll have to be a little over 20 weeks because we only have Mondays and Tuesdays off to do the scan. It’s hard to imagine that we’ve known that I’m pregnant for 10 weeks now. And to celebrate, the weather here is crappy. Haha. I hope it clears up tonight. Brad took a section of our fence down so that a friend of ours could bring his loader over and help us move the hot tub from our garage to our back yard. He was going to come over Tuesday morning but his friends that were coming into town came in early so he was going to come that afternoon. We got home from our appointment and there was a locked loader but no one with a key to be seen. Now we haven’t heard from him for 2 days. So Lucy is driving us nuts because she can’t go outside, and the dogs can’t stay out on their own for too long because we don’t want them to wander off. So I’m hoping it clears up so that we can get the stinkin hot tub in the back yard and our fence back up before we have people over on Saturday.
Other then that little set back the week has been good. I’m pretty tired still but seem to be getting more energy a little at a time. Last night though I was showered and in bed by 7:30. Haha.
Baby Info:
Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he’ll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you’re having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby’s stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. CRAZY!
How far along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Still at 3 lbs total
Maternity clothes? Nope, again my regular clothes aren’t even really tight yet.
stretch marks? Only pre-pregnancy ones
Sleep: Good nights and bad nights
Best moment this week: Hearing the heart beat again and having the midwife talk about the big u/s.
Movement: None to speak of, but the midwife asked if I was feeling anything yet and said it should be in the next couple weeks, how exciting!
Food cravings: Food, period.
Gender: I have absolutely no clue at all, no intuition to be found.
Labor Signs: No thank goodness.
Belly Button in or out? Still very much an “innie”
What I miss: Sushi!
What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender, being able to register, and coming home for a week in October!
Weekly Wisdom: Why did no one tell me that the pregnancy “glow” was just really oily skin? =)
Milestones: I’m a third of the way down and only two thirds to go. Crazy.
So, I asked my midwife why I was getting a gut but it’s not at all baby related, as I’m NOT showing at all. She says it kind of is baby related as when the uterus grows it pushes everything else up. So my uterus is about 4 inches below my bellybutton still and it a little bigger than a grapefruit so it’s pushing everything else up, so there for I just look like I’ve had too many second helpings. Haha.

Anyway, here is my 14 week belly picture:

Yesterdays appointment

So, yesterday we went to our midwife appointment and things are great. We got to hear the heart beat again and it was in the 160’s. It’s so nice to be able to hear it every couple weeks for that reassurance. Blood pressure was good, up a lot more from last visit but still in the normal range at 120/70. I found out that I can ocassionally have my eggs over easy as she feels that the heat from cooking the eggs will kill anything that could be worrysome. Brad is trying to keep me with over medium at the most though, boo to that. But I was happy to find out I didn’t have to eat scrambled eggs for the next 6 months!
My next appointment is scheduled for August 24th to have my blood draw for Neural Tube Defects as well as my 1 Hour Glucose test (does this not seem like, at least 6 weeks early to anyone else?!) and then we’ll make an appointment then for about 3 weeks out for our BIG gender u/s. So hopefully around the 14th or 15th of September!

Nursery Purchase!

So, we bought our first decorative item for the nursery at the Art Fair yesterday. We bought a light catcher to hang in the window as it gets sun all day. We love the company that we bought from and actually bought our first decorative home purchase from them last year in the form of our Bear Shadow Box.

So of course as soon as we got home I put it in the window to see how it would look when we hang it:

And then here is a little closer up view:
The metal in the middle is treated so it’s a rusty color as well as the scrolls on top (you can see these in the first picture) to hang it by. And then of course there is the white stained glass in the background and the frame is Aspen.
I loved it and just had to share. =)
We have a doctors appointment tomorrow, general, but I’ll update with any news.

NT Scan/Bloodwork Results

Everything looks good.
My odds for Downs Syndrome by age alone were 1:700 and then after the bloodwork & scan my new odds are 1:8000.
My odds for Trisomy 13 & 18 by age alone were 1:2400 and then after factoring in the bloodwork they are now just a Smidge lower at 1:2600. Not too shabby.
The only thing they said is that one of my pregnancy hormones, the one that regulates the growth of the placenta, is a little low so I need to start taking an 81mg Baby Aspirin every night before bed. Woo Hoo, Baby Aspirin here I come!
Other then that no more to do until between 15-20 weeks when I’ll have blood work done to test for Neural Tube Defects. I’m just glad I didn’t have to wait over the weekend for the results, I would have been a nut case by Monday.
Thanks for all your prayers thus far!

Officially in the 2nd Trimester!!!

How exciting! I cannot believe how the last 2 months went by so slow yet so fast at the same time. As of Sunday we only have 6 months left until our estimated due date. Crazy! Not a whole lot to say since I’ve been posting a lot this week. Brad said something cute during our u/s on Monday. He asked if we should name the baby Ed and I asked where the heck that came from and he said they had it on every screen with a picture of the baby. I was like “Brad, that stands for Estimated Due Date.” I love him, he’s awesome.

Baby’s now the size of a peach! Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords…savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby’s tummy — much more convenient.
Fingerprints have formed on your babys tiny fingertips, the veins and organs are clearly visible through the still-thin skin. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce.

How far along? 13 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +3 lbs total
Maternity clothes? Not yet, clothes still aren’t even feeling tight :::Knock on Wood:::
stretch marks? Only pre-existing
Sleep: I have my good nights and my BAD nights.
Best moment this week: Getting to see our little one again!
Movement: s/he was moving like crazy thanks to the hiccups but nothing I could feel.
Food cravings: Food, period. Sweet, salty, sour, bland. I like it all
Gender: Most likely a boy, I want a girl, would be ecstatic with either.
Labor Signs: Haha, way too early for that
Belly Button in or out? In, and I took out my bb ring this weekend and it’s crazy to see my “naked” belly button for the first time in over 9 years!
What I miss: The occasional summer on the patio drinking night, all worth it.
What I am looking forward to: Finding out, Boy or Girl! Only 6-7 more weeks!
Weekly Wisdom: Do NOT let the stress get to you, it’s not good for anyone.
Milestones: Making it out of the First Trimester and getting to see the LO again!

And here it is for all of your viewing pleasure, my gut:

Sorry for the poor quality, I forgot my camera at home so I had to use my phone for the picture. I can tell where I’m starting to round out at the bottom. Maybe it’s just me.

A trip to Babies R Us

So, on Monday before heading over to our NT scan Brad and I went to check out some stuff at Babies R Us. I am in love with that store. =)
I wanted to go look at Travel Systems and found a pattern on a Great system that absolutely adore. Brad just thinks I’m weird that I like the fact that it matches other things in the collection. The pattern is completely gender neutral and I love it either way for a boy or a girl. I figured I would post links to the items so everyone can see them. The brand is Graco and it’s the Utopia pattern. So pretty!
Here is a link to the stroller:

Pack and Play:
Pack & Play
Baby Swing/Soother:
Isn’t it gorgeous?! And while wandering we also found a crib that we both like. It’s by Graco also and it’s this dark Espresso finish, gorgeous.
Crib (Just found it cheaper on the Wal-Mart website of course.)
And then some Gender Neutral bedding that we like, although Brad also liked some other more colorful bedding I couldn’t find it on the website.
Monkey Bedding
So it was a fun day of window shopping. Now we just have to start saving our pennies. LoL
I’ll do my weekly update tomorrow. Can’t believe we’re in the 2nd trimester already!

NT Scan Photos

So, although we won’t get the NT Scan and Blood Test official results until next week some time I can tell you how today went.
We got to the hospital and had an hour to kill so we asked if we could tour Labor & Delivery, they sent us right up and the nurses are extremely friendly. We got to tour a birthing sweet and were informed that there is no limit to the number of people they will allow in there with you, if I want you there, you’re in. Haha The rooms are nice, wood floors, a Jacuzzi tub in each room and everything you need for the delivery. In case something were to go wrong the NICU is on the same floor so they can have a NICU doctor there while you’re delivering. After touring L&D we got to tour the recovery floor. The rooms are about half the size of the birthing suites but still a decent size. We found out that the baby never has to go to the nursery at night unless you want it to, you can keep him or her with you 24 hours if you want. And that general recovery time is 1-2 days for a vaginal birth and 3-4 days for a c-section but it all really depends on how you’re doing. The lactation nurses are on the same floor as recovery and we got to meet one of them today and she seemed very nice as well. Everyone we worked with was extremely friendly.
Then we headed over to the next building for our appointment. We registered and waited for a minute only to be told that the u/s portion of the visit would be taking place at Labor & Delivery, where we had just been. So we headed back over that direction and after just a short wait got in for the u/s. Our little one popped up on the screen right away and has an extremely strong heart beat at 171 beats per minute. The baby measured at 12 weeks 4 days and looked good. The Nuchal Fold measurement was 1.7 and anything under 4 is considered normal. During the u/s it seems the baby had the hiccups as every couple seconds it would bounce straight up. It was so cute but I kind of got scolded for laughing so hard as it was interfering with the measurments. We got a good 10 minutes of being able to just watch the baby while she took the measurements. Then the doctor came in and explained how the results worked. After we went and took blood it would take about a week to get our “odds” back. My odds just by age alone are 1:500 for downs syndrome and about the same for Trisomy 13 & 18. But my measurements looks good so it should be better odds then that even.
The we headed to the office where we registered to get my blood drawn. They had to take the blood out of my hand as I guess I have small veins in my arms. It didn’t hurt at the time but now my hadn is pretty sore. Sorry if this is TMI but at first the needle was in but the blood wasn’t flowing and the nurse thought she was going to have to use a syringe to draw the blood. She asked me to hold the needle (that yes was still in my hand) while she got up to get the syringe and as soon as I had a hold of the needle it finally started flowing. So I guess I kind of drew my own blood. =) Then it was the weirdest thing. She put a little stopper in the vial and just kind of made 8 or 9 dabs on this card and then threw the rest away. Straight into the bio-hazard bin. Weird but I guess that’s all they needed were the few little dabs before it clotted. I’m not feeling as woozy as last time they drew blood, just the sore hand, but they didn’t take nearly as much this time.
And that is about it for the day, I will let everyone know as soon as I get my numbers back hopefully early next week.
And now for the pictures. Not the best quality but it’s a picture of a picture. I’ll try to scan them at work on Wednesday and if they turn out better I’ll swap them out.
But for now:

Here is the full profile. Head on the right, legs on the left. The white line across the bottom is the spine.
Here is a close up of the facial profile with the little hand up by the face. I love that it looks like a baby now instead of the blob. Haha.
Here is a kind of blurry photo of the profile with the HB measurment next to it. A Very healthy 171 BPM.
And last but certainly not least: =)The creepy Alien looking 3D photo. =) That’s our little curled up baby right in the middle.
I’ll update again on Thursday for the weekly update. Until then THANK YOU everyone for your prayers.

NT Scan today

Alright, I’m getting ready to go home and get Brad up so we can head down to Denver and run some errands before our Scan this afternoon.
I’m nervous only because I’m a worry-er but I’m sure everything will be fine. Prayers are appreciated and I will try to update as soon as we get back tonight.

Last week of the First Tri….

So my first trimester is SO close to being over. In 5 days I will be 13 weeks pregnant and in my 2nd trimester and hopefully some of the worrying will go away.

This last week with my family was great, thinkgs didn’t go well with my dad but they never do so that wasn’t really a surprise to anyone. I did however get to go see some movies that I wanted to, eat some of the food I miss so much, and as I said earlier, see my family. It was a jam packed 6 days that concluded with puppy sitting & a move of apartments for Sara but so much fun. Now I need a nap. =)
All last week I felt pretty good; I had some random acts of nausea brought on by weird smells but that was about it. Now after being back in the altitude I didn’t feel that great this morning but hopefully will feel much better tomorrow after a good nights sleep. A Midnight showing of Harry Potter followed by getting home late after a flight the next night I’m sure didn’t help. All in all though I think ::::Knock On Wood:::: that the morning sickness is subsiding quite nicely.
I did some shopping at Once Upon after going to see The Proposal (so cute!) and couldn’t resist buying a TON of cheap onsies as well as the cutest mobile I’ve ever seen. (Thanks Mom!)

Oh yes, that’s Dogs & Fire Hydrants that you see. =) You cannot beat the prices at that place although you want to beat the employees most of the time.

This week the Baby is about the size of a plum. Almost all of baby’s systems are fully formed, and s/he will now shift into the growth and maturation stage. “The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby’s fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements” How cool is all of that? I cannot wait until Monday so that we can see the little bean again. It’s supposedly going to actually look like a baby which is crazy coming from the tiny little blob that it was in the first u/s when we could barely make out body parts without having everything pointed out to us.
So I found this survey online and I thought I would fill it out every week and see if you guys like it. Plus it gives me something else to look back on week after week.
How far along? 12 Weeks 2 Days
Total weight gain/loss: As far as I know I’m still +2 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Nope, my normal clothes aren’t even getting tight yet. (I hope I didn’t just jinx myself)
stretch marks? None that are pregnancy related.
Sleep: I need more right now but the exhaustion from every day activites is easing up a bit.
Best moment this week: Getting to see my family (Sorry, not pregnancy related)
Movement: I cannot feel any movements yet, hopefully just a few more weeks.
Food cravings: Sweet things.
Gender: No clue, I have no mothers intuition on this.
Belly Button in or out? Still have my innie for a while.
What I miss: Sushi!
What I am looking forward to: Getting my First Tri testing results back and knowing that everything is okay.
Weekly Wisdom: It’s okay to cry.
Milestones: Almost done with the first Tri!!!
And now what you’ve all been waiting for, the belly pic:

I’m not getting too much bigger, just bloat still.
And now just as an adorable way to finish off this exceedingly long post (sorry!) I’m going to add in 2 of the cutest pictures ever!

Oh yes, there’s my muscle momma! Don’t the Tinkerbell PJ’s look so intimidating?!

And here is Devon with Saras new puppy “Charlie”

11 Weeks 2 Days

I can’t believe how fast time seems to be going. It seems like every couple of weeks I have an appointment or something to look forward to and so time has just been flying by. I fly home tonight for a week, then when I get back I work for 4 days and then have my testing on the 20th (and we’ll have an u/s so we’ll get to see the wee one again), then a week later I go in for my monthly appointment and I’ll be 14 weeks and well into my second Trimester. Crazy.

We should be able to find out the gender in the beginning to middle of September depending on what week the doctor likes to do it. I had so many things I wanted to say but I just get so excited when I think about the baby that it all goes out the window.
Brad is interested in making a crib and we’ve found a set of plans that he likes and a second set that I like. It seems like so much work though, we’ll just have to see what we end up doing. Here’s a link to the plans he likes: http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/ainsworth69.html Very outdoorsy like Brad. And here is the link to the plans I like: http://cgi.ebay.com/SLEIGH-BABY-CRIB-BED-NURSERY-FURNITURE-Woodworking-Plan_W0QQitemZ160341901482QQcategoryZ2985QQcmdZViewItem I like it because it’s transitional and would grow along with the baby. So if he does decide to actually build the crib, those are our 2 choices currently. The good part about his plans are that they’re free. Haha. I have seen some in stores though that wouldn’t be all the hassle of building one and aren’t too expensive that I really like though. Who knows, we have plenty of time unless it just keeps flying by. I’m sure at around the half way point time will stand still.
So, I just found out that before I leave work today to head to the airport that I have to be the new voice of Winter Parks Snowmobile Safety video. I’m so nervous. I hate speaking in front of people so I cannot even imagine having my voice recorded to be heard by goodness knows how many people for how many years to come. It freaks me out, I’m getting a little nauseous just thinking about it.
That’s another good thing I can mention. I know that last week I said that the morning sickness hasn’t been that bad for me and this last week it has subsided even more. The only time I feel on the verge of throwing up now is when I’m brushing my teeth. My two least favorite times of the day. =) And according to all of the pregnancy website, our baby is now the size of a lime. The head is equal size to the whole rest of the body, haha. Tooth buds are appearing under the gums, hair follicles are starting to grow, motor skills are improving as the baby can now practice opening and closing it’s fists. Crazy.
And now for your viweing pleasure is my very bloated 11 week 2 day belly.

Although I’m also going to post the following one because I somehow made myself look skinny. Maybe it’s all in my head but humor me. Haha

I think that’s about all I’ve got for today. I’ll probably look HUGE in my picture next week. I fly home tonight and back here next Wednesday so I have almost a whole week to eat Frisco melts, Trojan Horse, and Avers. Haha. Now lets all just pray for 2 safe flights.
